You can get your amino acid levels tested. There is a 24 hour urine test, where you have to catch your urine for 24 hours and get that tested for levels. My doctor uses the amino acid tests through LabCorp.
Mine were in the tubes. Really, really low. My doctor explained that it becomes a really bad cycle when your amino acid levels are low. Without amino acids, you can't break down the protein to get the amino acids out of food.
So it actually is necessary to supplement with amino acids to get back up to healthy levels.
My doctor uses Bio Builde amino acids. He said they are very easily absorbed. I take 6 tablets a day, when the usual dose is 5 tablets. I think it might be 3-4 for a woman actually.

I'm back kinda late...I really crashed there...but I "M BACK! smile...
Would you say amnio acids are a good bet to be low in most Lymies?
I used to put Braggs (liquid amino acids) on all my food and had to stop cause I had a soy allergy..frown....so I've been concerned about my amino acids...
I don't want to stop all my stuff for a week to test though...but very interested in testing...just not a good time...
I guess my questions is, are amino acids one of the supplements that most people take...like magnesium and B-Vit's...as a staple??
I'm taking so much already, but as Aniek said
"Without amino acids, you can't break down the protein to get the amino acids out of food."
would it be smart to take some if I don't know if mine are low or not?or a waste of moola? hmmmm....
