Hello -- just a note, I have been having much success with my neuro symptoms with minocycline! I had tremors, internal trembling, weird coming-and-going tingly feelings in arms.....they have all but gone away on 100 mg of mino! It's amazing. I even notice improved cognitive processes and an overall improved mood!

Just a note of encouragement....and I'm hoping it stays this way. We are treating Lyme and clinical bart with the following daily protocol:

Rifampin 600 mg
Doxy 400 mg
Mino 100 mg
Omnicef 600 mg

Congratulations, and thanks for sharing! That looks like a pretty powerful daily combo, and I am glad that it is working for you.

Given all the abx that you are taking, why do you think that it is the mino that is working on your neuro symptoms?

I am very interested in your answer to this, thanks! I am on 100 mg/mino every 2 days, and I think it is great. I want to increase, but my doc currently does not want me to.

I was making slow progress on Mino plus others, but when Rifampin was added I showed real significant improvement.

Most of my symptoms have been neuro..

Unfortunately was taken off of it. [Frown]

I noticed the improvement in the neuro symptoms only once the mino was added....that's why I attribute the improvement to it.....

Minocycline is a neuro-CNS anti inflammatory. It has been used in Parkinson's I believe and is even being studied in autism soon.

Mino has been the only abx I have used in smaller doses then you are taking. I am in a high degree of remission. I suspect that the use of heparin also played a major role, perhaps potentating the low dose mino.

Did you herx much on it? My daughter has just started on minocine and has never herxed so strong on anything--and we have done almost evertything. The script is for 100mg in the AM and 200mg in the PM. She was so sick, it was agreed to cut her back to 100mg/day for at least 2 weeks and then re-evaluate. She is still pretty sick, but she has only been on it 9 days. She has had a headache for 7 years now and we are hoping this one works.

I hope my daughter has the same success. She has been taking only 50mg mino MWF for the past couple of weeks and it's KILLING HER!

We can't even think of adding anything else to it.

Did you ramp up, or did you blow right in for 100mg daily?

I had to ramp up quite slowly on mino. I could never have started on daily mino. Started on 50mg every 3 days! Now on 100mg every 2 days after 3+ months!

My LLMD is very aggressive. He starts off with these kinds of doses and if you have problems he will back you off of them. Otherwise....off you go!
