I feel like I'm exhaling chemical fumes. It's not a smell but a feeling/sensation.

I can only compare it to when I use to swim as a kid in a chlorinated pool and get water in my nose or choke. The kind of fumes you'd feel after the incident. I've not seen this one come up since I've been reading the board but have experienced it a few times.

I'm having other herx or lyme symptoms---I can't tell the difference at times. Liz

I've had this, too. I'm not sure if it's a smell or a taste or some combination of both, along with a sensation of tension in my jaw to where I seem to clench my teeth a lot - is that what you're feeling?

It could very well be a herx, and your body is having trouble releasing toxins. Hot baking soda baths are the ONLY thing that have helped me with this symptom. Soak in 1-2 cups of baking soda in the hottest water you can tolerate until you finish sweating.

I have also had this symptom with exposure to high electromagnetic fields. You might want to read this and see if this is related to what you are experiencing:

I notice if I eat when I taste chemicals I feel worse. If I am exposed to electromagnetic fields when I taste chemicals, I feel worse. And if I happen to do both, it's like a truck hit me.

Thank you Tailz for responding and the advice. It is reassuring to know others have had the same symptoms. With all my various symptoms sometimes I think I'm going nuts. I haven't even told my Dr about this one. I get the teeth clenching/jaw muscle thing too and that happens on an almost daily basis.

I don't know anything about electomagnetic fields but my parents use to live about a mile away from a high radio tower and I would have trouble falling asleep at night because I could hear music. No one else did. I wonder if some people are more sensitive to this than others or if it is Lyme related? It was strange and only happened at their house.

Another symptom I get is ear pressure and at times it's like an atmospheric pressure change in my ears----hearing and pressure. Most times with a high pitch hummm. Had it today with all this other stuff going on.

Did you have severe fatigue? That has been disabling for me. If you did what helped and how long were you on antibiotics before you improved? Liz

various medications will give you a metallic taste or aftertaste in your mouth.

You may need to detoxify your body more often.

The jaw clenching is a borrowed symptom related to MS victims which I got early on and which has subsided with treatments.

You may want to throw in some "Jolly Time Popcorn"(minus the tinfoil it comes in of course)with that very hot baking soda bath....

May as well eat while soaking!

Orrville Redinbacher works adequately as well.

Have your C-salt handy and a little Olivio margarine...if you like buttered corn that is.

Because once those kernals get hit with the water and then the microwaves....it's POP city in that tub!

Thought I would interject a little humor...
