What is the % of people with lyme that have co-infections as well?
Been in treatment for over 9 months now and no real improvements, I just sent the tests to Igenex for the co-infection panel

IgeneX doesn't test for mycoplasma. It is common and often overlooked. Use MDL Labs in NJ. If you have lyme and have had zero improvement in 9 months there is a good chance you are co-infected.

Even if you have the tests run doesn't mean the co-infections will show up on them.
I tested positive for Babs only, but from Bart treatment I can tell I also am dealing with it. Babs treatment is really kicking my butt now.
As with Lyme con-infections are often a clinical dx.

Dr. B said that nobody 'just' has Lyme.
Dr. F said that he diagnosed something like 200 cases of bart in his practice alone, and the CDC's statewide count was like 2.

I know that con infections was probaly a typo... but i really think that is what they often are...
they hide in, under, and admist they lyme symptoms which overlapp so much it can be very difficult to dicern what is what. Their given nature can make it very difficult to identify who else is lurking around hiding in lyme's shadows.
My guess only as a lyme patient though is that alot of the chronic lyme sufferers that need the real long treatment (multiple years) have at least one coinfection.
Like lymednva said very important to keep in mind that even igenex can test negative and still be infected with a coinfection.
- But this is just the opinion of a fellow lymie based on observations of posts on this board and expereincing my own lyme/coinfection journey.
