Hello, I am relatively new to Lyme disease having been diagnosed two months ago -- most likely from a tick bite in June or July of this year.
So far, I've been frustrated with my treatment. My first doctor gave me 200mg per day of Doxycycline for two weeks, which of course, didn't take care of the disease. I have seen two LLMDs since, the first put me on 100mg of Minocycline per day. I decided to see another LLMD, who has added two shots of Benzathine Penicillin per week at 2.4 million units per shot in addition to the minocycline.
I figured out through research that the two antibiotics interact with the tetracycline reducing the effectiveness of the penicillin. I was herxing pretty hard on the 100mg of minocycline before. Now that I'm on two drugs, my herx cycles have been less predictable. At times, I haven't herxed at all.
I'm concerned about the drug combination and wonder if anyone has has had experience on both a tetracycline and Bicillin L-A shots or any feedback at all.
Thank you in advance.
