Im hoping somebody out there might know which of the big pharmacies (in the eastern Pa/new jersey area) carry IV Doxycycline in an injectable form? My insurance company has refused to cover IV Doxycycline but Ive been told that many patients are getting it directly from their pharmacy in injectable form (which the insurance company is more likely to cover) and then paying to have it made up by a specialty pharmacy into IV Doxycycline for picc line etc this way is supposed to work out a lot less expensive than paying for the IV Doxy directly which is going to cost us about 750 dollars a week (including nursing etc) im 29 years old and have been sick for 5 years but only diagnosed in sept 2006. my parents will be the ones paying for the IV Doxy now that our insurance company has refused coverage so im hoping to find a local pharmacy who might carry it in the injectable form so it will be less expensive for them. We ve tried our local Acme and CVS but they dont sell the injectable form only orals. if anyone out there has any knowledge of a pharmacy that might have this i would really appreciate it if you would let me know. we are living in Doylestown, PA. thanks so much!! Hi Carolyn, Costco typically has the best price for prescription drugs in my experience. If they don't carry it, ask them if they can order it and get a quote on the price.
You can probably get a very good deal by ordering at Costco on-line as well. It is usually slightly cheaper if ordering from Costco on-line.
Hopefully others will be along to offer more information.
You might ask your LLMD's office if they know of a good inexpensive source. Also check with your local lyme support group for more local resources.
