My daughter (19) has a sever case of Lyme with a co-infection of babesia- She has been bed ridden (unable to walk) for almost 2 years. We are seeing a LLMD, a pain doc and a neurologist.

Is there anyone out there who has Babesia and has had success with a hyperbaric chamber ?

Thanks

Hi Signal,

I have had a few clients with both babesia and lyme. As long as you have treated or are treating the babesia with antibiotics she should be fine.

I would however recommend that you are using the recommended 2.4 ATA ( atmospheres absolute ) that is recommended by Dr William Fife.

If you would like to recieve more information on lyme and HBOT here is a great link:

signal10,

My daugter also has LD with Babesia & Bartonella co-infections.

She was accurately diagnosed in October 2005 but has been ill since the early part of 2001. She too was bed/wheelchair bound for over two years.

She has been on several different oral antibiotics, had a PICC line, infusing Rocephin and other antibiotics.

During her early stages of infusing Rocephin she underwent a 10 week hyperbaric oxygen chamber course of treatment in Chico California.

Between the daily infusion of Rocephin and the HBO treatments, I would say that she has improved about 75% to 80%.

She is no longer bedridden. We sent the wheelchair back to the rental company. She is still ill, but the improvement has been quite dramatic.

If you'd like more information or if you just want to pick my brain, don't hesitate to write.

Hello there,

I am in Chico right now and will do my 7th dive tommorow.

I have babesia WA-1 and Bart.

My LLMD said as long as treat it before and while in the chamber, there is no problem.

Mitch Hoggard who runs the Hyperbaric Center in Chico told me he has seen many get well who do hyperbaric that have babesia (that are treating it) and lyme.

Best advice I can offer is call around and do research. This was a big factor in me choosing to do or not to do the oxygen.

I choose to do it.

Good Luck!!

Lyme Dad- So glad to hear your daughter is doing so much better.

Jennifer

Hello--

I strongly urge you to treat your babesia either before or during the hyperbaric sessions. I did 44 dives at 2.8 ATA and thought I was recovering during the sessions. (I had been on abx, including a PICC line for about a year and a half before that). Unfortunately, about 3 weeks after I finished my HBOT sessions, I could barely walk and my legs literally felt like they had 50 lb waits on them. I was so discouraged. Since then, I've learned that I most likely have babesia which has been undertreated. I'm now remedying that. I do think the HBOT helped with my immune system and the lyme disease. I, however, am strongly compelled to believe I would have made much more progress if I had been treating the babesia. There's a woman who posts on here named Julia and she has a hyperbaric clinic in New Jersey. I have a friend who goes to her clinic and says she is very knowlegable. I strongly urge you to contact her. Good luck.

A.M.
