Good morning all.

Quick question.

Started my flagyl/doxy protocol of 3 days of flagyl (up to 750mg a day)

With four days of doxy (300 mg a day).

On my flagyl days (I am only up to 500mg a day-I know I am a wimp)

I can't seem to get to sleep. Deep sleep.

I am so tired I can't stand myself, then when I lay down,

It is like I am dozing the whole time. Every little sound wakes me up.

Anybody else experience this?

Does it go away? (please say yes)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi Geneal:

Sorry you are having this problem. The FDA info on Flagyl lists insomnia:

Central Nervous System: Convulsive seizures, peripheral neuropathy, dizziness, vertigo, incoordination, ataxia, confusion, irritability, depression, weakness, and insomnia.

This is a site where anyone can rate their experiences with drugs and there are many entries for Flagyl including those with insomnia:

http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=12623&name=FLAGYL

It may take a few moments for the comments to come up because there are a lot of them.

Hope you get some sleep soon.

Flagyl was a really tough drug to take, I could only stand if for 3 weeks until I switched.

My main complaint on flagy was anxiety and psych symptoms. I think the mix between a herx and the drug itself can caused this. Eventually I switched to an herbal cyst buster, and away from flagyl.

Feel better.

Thanks you guys!

ARrrggghhhhh! If it is not one thing it is another.

What's another night without sleep?

At least I am not having any psychotic episodes

(Unless you count me running down the street naked screaming [Big Grin] ).

I suppose I should add......yet.

Hugs,

Geneal

Geneal,

I just finished a 14 days cycle of Flagly. 1500 mg per day.

I noticed that Flagyl made me extremely sleepy. I knocked the energy right out of me and made me feel like I could sleep at any point.

I didn't experience the insomnia that you are talking about, but did notice that I would wake up every now and then because I stopped breathing.

Flagyl made my throat swell and my uvula got extremely enlarged. It would make me snore and block my passageway.

Now that I'm off... I'm sleeping like a baby again.

The physch stuff hit me hard. I was close to driving myself to the ER. So keep an eye on your emotions please. If it gets too much to handle, back off it!

26 months of treatment. And counting.......
