Seems like an obvious question I know but I am wondering how you knew you had candida.

I have sugar cravings at times (mostly for chocolate but sometimes for other things). I am assuming this is candida.

I was on azithromycin for almost a year. I've also taken Cedax for a few months and amoxicillin for a few months (for UTIs) and ofloxacin for a few months and doxy for a month or two. I also did bicillin shots for 8 months.

So that's a lot of antibiotics. Sorry if this is considered "too much information" but I thought I was having a lot of vaginal yeast because of the dryness but I started on progesterone and almost instantly the dryness was gone. So it's possible what I thought was yeast isn't. For the 2 weeks per month I use the progesterone that symptom is totally gone.

I have increased my bio-k intake a lot and I have an appointment to go see a gastroenterologist because I don't seem to be digesting food properly. Could that be yeast?

Other than sugar cravings how would I know I have yeast??

I take four or five different kinds of probiotics.

Thanks

I herx when I take anti-fungals. Im very allergic to molds. Lots of othe reasons too.

I think the LLMD did an injustice by not putting me on anti-fungals and anti-parisite medication first. Instead he gave me antibiotics. This caused the candida to surge and I got MCS because of this. It is 4 years later and I still have bad MCS. Cant wear cologne, cant stand odours and I have constant vertigo that never went away.
Life sucks

Dear Catwoman,

All I have to do is look at my tongue. If there is a white coating then I am in thick with yeast.

Occasionally, I can get yeast in "other" places, but for some reason

I find my tongue to be my best gauge.

Hugs,

Geneal

PS If craving chocolate alone was a sign for me I would be systemmic with yeast. [Big Grin]

Gas. I get it with candida as soon as I take a bite of anything with simple carbs. Used to get it with food intollerances too, though, so it used to be more confusing.

If you're craving mostly chocolate, it could be the magnesium you are craving rather than the sugar. Chocolate is high in magnesium.

Bloating, itching....hunger for everything NOT on the first list of foods on the first link below:

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

Candida diet and elimination:

Lyme symptoms list compared with yeast symptoms
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021202.html

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

joy, thanks for solving WHY i constantly have gas; they don't call me TOOTING BETTY FOR NOTHING!! [lol]

decades ago, mom, a friend and i went out walking after a large "all you can eat" buffet. i started tooting immediately, and mom spanked me as i was walking for sounding off! embarrassing being in late 20s or 30s!!
