I still haven't tested positive for bartonella (pos. for Lyme though), but my LLMD thinks I have both bart and babesia.

I am sure she is right about the bart because taking Cipro pulled me back from the edge of death where I was having continuous crushing sensations around my heart that were so severe I could almost never sit up for three years, even for a minute.

I also got pain on the soles of my feet while taking Cipro, which I have read here is a clear indication of bart.

Anyway, I took Cipro for only 6 weeks and stopped due to tendon pain that was getting pretty bad, then switched to Rifampin but quickly stopped that as my liver enzymes became elevated.

My liver enzymes are still high, almost two months later, and I'm on amoxicillin but my heart symptoms are starting to come back -- and tonight they're pretty bad and I'm scared.

I'm also doing Buhner's herbs for bart but those are not particularly helping.

So I'm getting increasingly freaked about this heart situation, and I am wondering about going back on Cipro just for a week or two to put things back in check. My tendon pain has gone away. My liver enzymes are elevated but still under 100, which some folks here seem to think still makes treatment okay.

What is the school of thought on this? Can one really treat safely if liver enzymes are under 100? My LLMD seems to think this is a bad idea but is she being overly conservative? I know bart itself can cause liver inflammation too.

Has anyone else had bart endocarditis or pericarditis caused by bart and not Lyme? Was there squeezing/crushing around your heart?

And does bart alone raise liver enzymes?

Any ideas of other treatments I could try? Help!
