I am considering going to a new LLMD who is proposing putting me on Zithromax and Minocyline.
I'm a little confused because it is my understanding that Zithromax is a macrolide and is only considered to be effective if given with some sort of a 'cyst buster' (e.g. plaquenil).
What are others experiences with Zithromax and/or this combo?? Obviously I'm not sure I want to make the switch to this LLMD....
As always, thanks so much for your input!!

To my knowledge zithromax is a strong and effective abx for treating lyme, even on its own without plaquenil. Minocycline can be quite powerful for lyme as well. You should do a search under Medical Questions. I herxed plenty from both of these, used at different times.
Plaquenil can always be added later; many doctors might hesitate to start someone on 3 new medicines at the same time.

For both me and my daughter, we were started on Plaquenil a month after the other abx. You might ask before you go if Plaquenil is something you will be adding later if you're concerned about it.
I've been on Plaquenil for quite some time now along with various abx.
