About to start it "just in case" I have babesia. Any side-effects to look out for? $800 for one prescription! Decided to only buy half for now.

Be sure you eat it with fat ... it needs fat for absorption. I started it after several months of Mepron, so I didn't notice any changes in symptoms once I started it.

Malarone was good for me.

I took one, 4 x daily.

Remember to take with fat.

I had the worst night sweats the first couple of weeks on it, then again around day 30.

Babs herxes hurt.

I took mine with zithromax and bactrim ds.

Good luck.

Hugs,

Geneal

Shouldn't be taken with doxycycline. I was on a very low dose and did fine.

Byron, hubby took malarone for a couple of weeks. Developed a really bad swollen type rash on his forearms, so took a break. We don't think it was an allergic reaction though.

He's probably going to take again in another week. We did like you, only bought 1/2 prescription at first.

Are you taking in combo with biaxin?

I'm on minocycline 200mg/day. My Doc. prescribed Malarone. I'm reading that Doxy interacts w/it...what about minocycline?
