There are books and literature reporting that eating proper amounts of alkaline vs. acid forming foods to adjust body Ph to approximately 7.3 to 7.45 is a good method of treating micro-organisms such as Lyme borrelia, those found in co-infections, and others such as cancer. Has anyone here experienced favorable results from this type of treatment using saliva and urine testing of pH as a monitor?

Hi Bruce,

Two doctors I've worked with were big on this.

For a long time, I was unable to get and stay alkaline despite a very alkaline diet. I had to supplement calcium to reach alkaline urine.

A very odd aspect for me was that when I was acidic, I had little pain. Whenever I had more pain, I was alkaline. This was very consistent.

Doctors couldn't explain it. My theory is that when my urine was acidic, I was actually dumping heavy metals and/or other toxins quite well and therefore out of pain. The toxins made the urine acidic. When I was alkaline, I was holding the toxins in and therefore experienced pain. Just my theory.

It took a long time to reach consistent alkalinity. I had to stop coffee in order to get there. I now drink an herbal coffee called Teechino. I brew it like coffee and add my creamer and stevia just like I did coffee. It is very good and even more important, it is good for me. It is loaded with potassium and promotes alkalinity.

After receiving another tickbite in May and subsequent illness, I began seeing an ILADS LLMD. She diagnosed a heavy infestation of H. Pylori (bacteria in the gut that causes ulcers). I had been treated for this in spring 2004 and again in April this year (just 2 mths before seeing her) so I was surprised to learn it was still with me.

She began treating it and after 30 days, all pain subsided. Today, I am consistently alkaline and without pain. I continue in treatment and she still has me on the H.P. treatment but now at a level that goes after Babesia.

She too thinks alkaline is important. I know you can find doctors out there who papooh it, but for me, I am a believer.

I worked in clinic with PH balancing diets for many years, It helped many people although I have never seen it dramatically help anyone with lyme disease, although it is helpful as 'part' of your treatment regime.

It helps so much to have your PH set correctly to maintain health although the PH is very determined by metabolism especially thyroid function and setting thyroid hormone levels correctly alone normally balances the PH in to normal range - once the thyroid is set correctly if the PH is still out then work on PH balancing diets. Keep in mind you can now set and monior it with Alka Clear or something similar http://www.highernature.co.uk/ShowProductFamily.aspx?ProductFamilyID=44

My LLMD advocates monitoring this and making whatever adjustments you need in order to have a healthy pH level.

When I first started treatment, and for about a year into it, I was so acidic that the chart read simply: call your doctor.

My pH levels have actually been correlative with my progress.

I've been at a very healthy pH for the past 7 or 8 months.,

Thank you so much to all of you for responding. As popular as this topic seems to be, and it being something that a lot of LLMDs apparently recommend, I am somewhat surprised that there are not more people reporting improvement as a result of watching this. Anyone else have a success story about pH that they would like to share?

One of my doctors was just talking to me recently about the importance of this. I'm obviously "out of balance," but we didn't officially test me.

He said he could just look at me and tell me I had gotten was way too acidic. He's a neuro-gastrointestinal doctor who I've been going to for over 10 years, so he knows me pretty well!

He told me about a book called "The Ph Miracle" by a doctor with the last name Young. I haven't looked into it yet, but I need to big time.

He DID say that the diet in that book would be very hard for me to stick to. It's something like lemons, limes, avocados and tomatoes only......?

Anyway, I think this HAS to play a really big part in how our bodies react to anything. What comes to mind is how messed up our swimming pool can get when it's not balanced properly.

It takes a lot of work to get the water back into the right condition where it's an UNfavorable environment for algae to grow, etc.

My point is that YES, I agree that the Ph balance is very important! I'm going to learn how to get balanced!

Take care,

Aloha!

yes, Dr. Youngs book- The Ph Miracle is great...

it's has lots of great info on the whole idea of keeping your body at an alkaline ph...

him and his wife have done lots of research...they have this microscpore that they

can look at your blood, and you can see it on a monitor, and by the structures

they see, can tell if you are yeast-Y, way acidic,

bacteria infections, parasites...on and on...

i've been interested in having this done...

really facinating to me..

he's really big on green drinks...

yes, he's really big on lemons, limes, avos and tomatos...as your fruit...

He's also really into the ph of the WATER you

drink...which makes sense too...if we're

drinking lots of acidic water...which most

bottled water is...we're dumping a LOAD on our bodies..not to mention everything else we do...

There are really expensive filters that alkalize your water...I think they are great...can't afford one yet, one day..

my friend has one..I stayed at her house for a

week...and noticed a big change in just drinking

alkalized water...it really has a different

taste , if you will...

there are some great recipies in the book...and stories from people as well...

I personally love this one:

The avo shake-

1 AVO

1/2 lemon

1 or two stalks of kale/chard or your choice of greens

2 inch or so piece of cucumber

1 Tbl spoon of coconut oil (i put more-YUM)

and blend in a blender...I take it with my Mepron in the morning...and anytime through out the day when I need something really whole...

you can adjust the lemon to make it more sour or less...

and add stevia if you want it sweet...

It may sound strange....avo shake..but I really like it...

anyways...I'd check out his website...

google...Dr. young and you'll find it...

I think it definantly has helped me control

yeast issues...and feel overall lighter and not

weighed down... lots of raw veggies my body craves now...

go slow at first...if your not used to eating this way...

the main thing is NO SUGARS- not even fruits

(besides avo, lemon, lime & tomatos)...stevia is

the only sweetner that is supposidly ok...I

don't even take that...

No alcohol or caffine...way ACIDIC...and bad for our bodies anyways...

and more..can't find the book right now...

I must say though, I don't follow the book

religiously...but it's great to have the

knowledge that it offers and take from it what you want...

hugs and smiles!

Fawne

pH levels are important in TBE viruses and can play a part in activating or inactivating them!!

My Dr. is big on this, too, but I was already trying to be more alkaline before he was my Dr.

It's a very healthy diet and has helped me quite a bit overall. An acidic body likes to be sick.
Lyme loves the body to be acidic.

I use PH drops in my Reverse Osmosis water sometimes and take a PH supplement at night, too. My vegetable juice and fruit smoothies with added greens help a lot, too.

Thanks to all of you who have responded to my question. Gosh, you guys are great! What a wealth of information!

I can't thank you enough for all that you gave me here. You answered several questions for me. And I will surely be chasing down Dr. Young's book that you recommended, Goddess.

I have searched for books, but found very few on the subject, which again surprised me.

I wish good health to you all, and certainly will be pursuing the same for myself.

Bruce
