I am usually very allergic to meds/herbs, and unfortunately unable to take most of them. I'd like to try the Buhner herb list and see what happens. So I tried my first one last nite, resveratrol, a very small bit of it, and had a throat-closing reaction. It's my usual reaction, and I have to take benadryl to reverse the reaction.

Does anyone else get reactions like this?

I am wondering whether there's anything to be done, or are some of us just too sensitive to take stuff?

Robin, have you considered homeopathy?

As you may know, with homeopathy, there is really nothing going into your GI tract. The remedies are extremely high dilutions of various substances, either administered as tiny tablets that go under the tongue, or the tablets are dissolved in water and a small sip is a ``dose''.

There are even remedies designed for very sensitive people called LM potencies.

Well, it's just a thought.

I don't tolerate herbs or drugs well, but I don't have the "allergic" type reactions you are describing. That must be pretty awful.

I also have had good luck with homeopathics, prescribed by a very good practitioner. They have been powerfully effective for me.

Also, in my case I used to react to many things until I started taking Cortef for low adrenal function.

Since taking adrenal support and getting rid of much of my bacteria load, I'm not even allergic to my dog anymore!

If you have other possible symptoms of low adrenal function and low cortisol, it might be worth getting your levels checked.

Hey Robin!

I'm here, rooting for you. Will reply to your e-mail soon; busy trying to live some life and getting the balance right (it's exhausting and consuming; consuming and exhausting?)

I'm really sorry you're having a hard time getting started. I like the idea of homeopathy. I am also very sensitive to this, and I have found significant results. Perhaps because homeopathy is "energy medicine", and our electrical systems are so "on" / sensitive as a result of the Lyme?

So, I would be careful there as well, because it would be best if you had a good positive experience for your first. You're so sensitive to ~everything~ right now, and a practitioner can make sure you are taking a very mild dose.

Homeopathy is very non-western thinking, and someone please elaborate, because my knowledge about this is anecdotal. To my knowledge, the -less- the concentration, the more potent.

So make sure, if you go this route, to get the dose that is -least- likely for you to react with, and then move on from there.

Tired now; e-mail soon.

[group hug]

CBL.
