Confirm your lymes diagnosis once and for all!!The person that runs the Oklahoma Lymes disease support group here just found out that spirochete testing (not antibody) is now available. They accept insurance and medicare for this test!! Confirm your lymes diagnosis once and for all!!Here is a copy of the e-mail that she sent .
I've been contacted by a lab out of Florida in regards to a new test recently certified by the state of Florida that can identify the spirochete (Bb) rather than antibody reaction. Just started to do my due diligence but wanted to give everyone a heads up. Per my conversations with their president they are willing to discount the cost of testing if done in bulk. They are limited to a maximum of 25 tests per week, and the blood must be drawn Mon-Wed and sent overnight to assure best results. I'm looking for group members willing to participate in the bulk testing in order to support our efforts in getting Lyme recognized in Oklahoma. The testing should run around $150 and I don't know yet about insurance reimbursement.
A LYME ANTIGEN TEST BY FLOW CYTOMETRY - that is definitive in the detection of Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent in Lyme Disease.
As I get more information I will keep everyone informed.

I got a positive test from this lab. I never received a bill or insurance claim. Strange. I also wanted them to do a Western blot, but they
did not. The man that I spoke to told me on two different occasions that he would get back to me about it, but never did. He said that if my
flow cytometry test was positive, then I have lyme. But, I wanted to see what their WB showed, in order to compare it to Igenex.
Anyway, they seem to be understaffed, and obviously a bit unorganized, leaving me still w/some doubts about the positive result.

I got a Lyme test from this lab. It was "borderline positive." This was late this summer. They have only three categories--negative, borderline positive, and positive.
This lab bought Bowen Reasearch Lab, moved it, renamed it, and is doing a different test. The QRIB test was done by the Bowen Research Lab. I had that one done in 2005, and it came back with the highest level of Bb that their test was capable of showing.

Interesting..... lddtesting.com is actually a veterinary/ Lyme website....
quote:Our Mission.. We are a company dedicated to helping unite veterinarians and practitioners with the most advanced testing available for the detection and treatment of Lyme Disease and other related illnesses in the animal population.
We strive in everything that we do to represent only the highest caliber of testing available today in any field of veterinarian practice.
amk33, that would have been an interesting comparison.... although, unless you did the Igenex WB at roughly the same time as the CFR WB, I'm not sure it would be a valid comparison.
But it would have been interesting to see how the CFR Western Blot compared to the CFR flow cytometry test. Just because you have Bb detected in your blood does not mean that you have plenty of antibodies in there, too. It has been noted in Europe that there is a `distinct lack of antibody response' in humans to some strains of Bb. And we know that there are other factors that can prevent antibodies from showing in the blood. Still, it would be a clue as to what your body was doing with the Bb infection that you have....
One thing I really liked about the Q-RIBb test was the fact that it would show Bb presence all the way down to 0:0. If you got a 0:8 result, this probably meant that your body was dealing with the infection and keeping the bugs at low levels, but you still knew that the bug was there, even if in small numbers.
With the new CFR flow cytometry test, I'm not sure what constitutes a ``negative'' result. I confess that I don't understand the information available at the CFR website.
If you get a negative result, does that mean that they found `zero' Bb? I don't think it does, so my subsequent question is ``Who gets to decide how many Bb in the blood constitutes a `negative' result?''
Just some of my thoughts on this.......
