Hi all,

Wanted to ask the length of time to be off of abx, in order for the tests not to be skewed [e.g. Western Blot, PCR, etc.].

I read Dr. Burrascano's report, where he stated that 10-14 days is sufficient. Yet, someone that spoke to IgeneX told me, it was more like 28 days.

I ask this, because my first test was done, after being on abx for a while [acne problem], and I had stopped them for about 21 days when tested.

Also, is the same time-frame hold true for co-infection testing as well?

I actually contacted Igenex directly about this topic. Their response to me was that being on antibiotics does NOT impact Western Blot testing.

They did say it made a difference with PCR testing...sorry, don't know how long you have to be off of the antibiotics.

Hope that helps a little

I know the LLMD I seen in 02, said 10-14 days off? I was just off IV rochepin 12 days when I first visited him and Igenex came back highly IgM positive for lyme borrellia. My IgG was screwed up by the lab at Igenex and LLMD, said there was no reason to re-do IgG.

I'll have to look up the co-infections. Now I can't remember if I did them same day or if I did them at later date. Or remember if you needed to be abx free for co-infection tests. My mind is rattled right now. In other words, it's a lyme day.
