Yes, CD57 generally does not go down until you have had the infection for a reasonable period of time (maybe 6-12 months). I don't necessarily believe that the lower it has gone the more difficult the recovery is. I have seen people with low numbers do quite well. It is also just one marker and should be used as a data point not as a sole indicator.

Scott, puh-lease add a caveat to your posts that you are not a doctor.
I respect your level of research certainly but your posts seem to indicate experience with interpreting test results.....

My LLMD has found out in her practice that CD57 is not a reliable indicator as to the degree of illness in a lyme patient. She no longer uses it as a barometer for wellness or illness of her lyme patients.

My daughter had CD57 scores of 2, 3 and repetitively, zero whenever she went off Mepron and would decline. She has been in full remission now for years & years.
I don't believe it is a consistent marker for Lyme or Babs- for my daughter it was a good marker for her state of heatlh and treatment for Babs, it was spot on with her but for me it was not useful at all... I do not believe, with how expensive it is, and how unreliable, that it should be a regular Lyme test- and the doctor who designed it is the one who saved my life and whom I absolutely adore-

It was in a (I think fairly old) study I found on CanLyme.

i asked both of my llmd's this same question (one is dr S), and they both denied that the test can distinguish b/w 1. who wil be chronic for life and 2. who will get better w. time.
I had a really low score ad was really freaked out but their explanation calmed me.

My LLMD doesn't use it. He says some people will have a high CD57 and still be highly symptomatic, so he will still treat ... but others will have a low score and no symptoms .... he treats based on symptoms/need.
