Do you think that 3 years of not being treated is too long to hope for a recovery? I know some of you have had it a lot less and some of you a lot longer. What do you think the prognosis is for 3 years? I know you can never exactly tell and that everyone is different but any estimations would be helpful?

I am pretty sure I've had Lyme at least that long....probably longer.
My prognosis for remission is good according to my LLMD.
I have a few other issues that may make my journey longer
Like babesia, bartonella, EBV, CMV, HHV-6.
I believe I will get to remission. I don't know when, but I
Do believe I will get there. So will you.

Hi Trish.
I don't see three years as meaning you'll never recover.
That's about how long I was infected before figuring it out.
Boy, is is HARD to put a timetable on it!!
As Geneal says, co-infections can drag things out.
Read "Success Stories" under the General Support forum and you'll find lots of inspiration.
Learn to start thinking in terms of months, not weeks. In other words, you may not feel sustained improvement if you look at it on a week-to-week or (WORSE!) a day to day basis.
However, there WILL come a point where you'll say "Ahhh, I'm having some good days!" Then hopefully these will increase as you recover.
Keeping a little journal often helps. I had one for a while and didn't realize progress was even happening until I would go back and read over some of my entries in previous months. Then I was like, "Hey, things ARE getting better, even if I don't feel that great today..."
Hang in there and don't be discouraged!

Don't be discouraged. A lot of people have been successfully treated who have had chronic Lyme. The treatment will just take longer.

I have had chronic Lyme for over 35 years. I have been in treatment for just under one year. I am VERY close to remission right now!
I have no symptoms other than needing more sleep and insomnia (strange combination) during the month.
Then, every 24 days I have a two day herx ... for one week starting two days before the herx, I take Tindamax. I feel only about 75% during that time.
When I stop reacting to the Tindamax for two months, I'll be ready to switch over to herbs .... that'll be a few more months though, it still knocks me on my butt.
