If it's not one thing it's another! Our 2 lymie kids contracted fifth's disease (parvovirus B19) from school mid December. Son had the slapped cheeks rash and fevers and daughter had the rash on her legs, fevers, and then joint aches and pains.

Well wouldn't you know that I had to come down with it over the holidays. I had a fine pink rash on trunk and extremities.

Now I hurt everywhere - joints are really flaring, especially knees and wrists. I hope this doesn't last long. I already have lyme arthritis - I didn't need this too!

For some reason I didn't recall that parvovirus causes joint pain, but its all coming back to me now!

Long story short...... not everything is Lyme!

Hi
My kids also brought home parvovirus and I had it really bad...I think worse because I had LYME/Babs at the same time. It is the primary reason I was not diagnosed correctly. The doctors thought I was suffering from parvovirus like the kids.
It primarily goes after your hands/wrists and knees. It can last a while when your immune system is compromised from other stuff like LYME. It will go away but try your best to rest or it will stay longer. Be careful with fevers also.
I am sorry...that really stinks. I spent June and July battling both without knowing it. Now I am battling LYME/babs.

I have/had parvo. I'm not sure if it's active though. My hands, wrists, and knees actually aren't too bad right now.

Can you get parvovirus once you've already had it?

I had blood tests that showed I had the antibody to it, so I've had it in the past.

When I first got sick... One of the ducks diagnosed we with parvovirus (mis-read my test). Went 3 months with no treatment because it was a "virus"... makes me angry just thinking about it... Anyway, a coworkers husband had parvo as an adult and he couldn't walk for 3 months with joint pain in his knees (I had horrible leg pain as well but from babs). Coworkers doctor said it's similar to chicken pox... if you miss it when you are a child it's much worse when you are an adult. I believe that once you show antibodies for it... you can't get it again or it doesn't come back. Lots of children get it and don't even have a reaction to it. I had both parvo and mono as a child and didn't even know.

I got parvovirus back in the mid-90's. I didn't have any lasting arthritis from it, although my doc told me I might.

My daughter got the child equivilant of Fifths disease shortly thereafter.

She still tests positive for parvo. I haven't been retested.
