I was IgG positive and had symptoms, so I was considered active.

polar, in April '02 I was IgM 31 ++ through Igenex. That was after almost 3 yrs oral abx and 14 days prior coming off 6 wks of rocephin IV.
I don't know anything specific about band 31 antibodies without referring to Dr C explanation of lyme western blot.
Pam
PS: I had band 41 +++. So you scored higher on 31 than I did. Did you have anything on 41 also? ++ and +++ very evident on that tube of blood.

31 is the band used to make the now defunct Lyme vaccine. As I recall from my past readings and research, 31 is very BB specific and usually doesn't show until late in disease if at all.
31+++ IGM is very specific, active, infection if symptomatic.
