I read about this awhile back but just recently read this again here on lymenet.

Does band 45 on the Western Blot test for lyme indicates possible exposure to HGE, or ehrichlia? If this band is positive does this mean you have ehrichliosis?

When hubby was bit last year he was put on 400 mg doxy for 12 weeks, so if he had this hopefully it is not there anymore.

I emailed Igenex and asked them if the bands on a Lyme western blot could be used to diagnose co-infections and they never responded.

Hi,

I have a + band 45. I have tested positive for HME (Ehrlichia Chafeensis) but not HGE.

When I read that previous post, I wondered the same thing.

Anyone else have any info?

Corgilla

Corgilla,

What test, and what lab did you have to get the pos diagnosis for ehrichlia?

What treatment did you take for it and did it work?

Karen

I think the above post will answer your question.

Thank you! That was quick! It answered my question, now I just think I should be tested for ehrichlia just to be safe, so I may be on another roller coaster ride.

I feel healthy, no real problems other than the occational headache. Am now in my 6 month of treatment, after being dx in March, and getting this lyme mess from hubby in January '04.
