How did you get your home health agency to do the first abx infusion at your home?
I have done 15 days of IV Rocephin via PICC line and developed a hypersensitivity to Rocephin. I can no longer tolerate Rocephin. My LLMD wants to change to Claforan IV.
However, my home health agency will not administer the first dose at home and require it to be done in a monitored setting, ie hospital or ambulatory infusion center. THis reqires an order from local family doc for the IV Claforan. Hospital or infusion center cannot accept an order from out of state LLMD.
Local family doc not comfortable with signing off on order and refuses.
How can I find a home health or infusion company to do first infusion at home? Has anyone else ran into this problem? Don't know what to do. Have not heard back from LLMD and need to go back on abx soon.
I need to find a way to make this with work without the help of family doc. Chances are I may not tolerate Claforan since it is in the same class as Rocephin but who knows. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Any possibility the home health care agency has a nurse on duty? One of my meds required a first dose in a monitered setting and the infusion pharmacy had a nurse on the premises.
I just did the first infusion myself, sitting in her office. Very easy & no having to get a local doctor (impossible!) to write orders.
I hope something like that might work out for you. I know how frustrating it is when these aggravating little details get in the way of treatment!!
