Hi everyone-

I was wondering if anyone could help with this question.

I just started bicillin shots and my wife is allergic to all "cillins" (amoxy, etc.). Does anyone know if she could have an allergic reaction after we would have unprotected sex? Is bicillin excreted in semen? I forgot to ask the doctor at my appointment.

Thanks for any input.

I belive it is excreted through the kidneys and the liver. You could do a search on PubMed searching benzathine penicillin AND phamacodynamics. However, I think this is a question for an allergist and that it would be best to play it safe until you get an answer.

Good question. A challenging question.

Are you talking about Bicillin shots? That medicine gets dispersed, slowly, from the muscle it was shot into. It is not processed through the GI tract--that is, maybe, until it is excreted from our bodies. How is it excreted?

Maybe you could consult with a very good gastroenterologist, to learn how it is excreted. Then, make your decision.

We with Lyme have issues, issues, issues, huh?

Thanks for the input!

I did contact my doctor for an answer and he said that it's not an issue.
