So I tested positive for Lyme back in April 2007, tested negative for co-infections till Dec 2007 when I tested positive for Babesia WA-1 variety. I did amox and flagyl with biaxin thrown into the mix initially. I have been taking doxy for the past 3 months with good effects, been taking mepron for a month and a half with good effects, started taking art (dr zhang's) for the past week, and I am going through hell again.
Really bad headaches, not sleeping well, my vision seems to be out of focus, and my crushing fatigue is back. Bone pain in both my elbows. I don't have pain in the soles of my feet, as is a tell tell sign of bart, and I don't get stretch marks. I do get little things that look like zits (that I didn't have prior).
Question, do you think I am herxing or is bart coming out because the babs is retreating?
What are some universal symptoms of bart that I should be looking for?

Thanks Cal Lyme. I get so confused at times. I don't know if things are getting worse or better.
I'm hoping its a herx.

Hello H8lyme--
I have a positive lyme test and have been clinically diagnosed with babesia. I don't have any of the bart symptoms. I, too, get those odd zit-looking type bumps when I treat, especially around my neck and chest. Oddly enough, when I did HBOT, I had a line of them that ran from my chest, up the side of my neck, and onto my face. (Priot to HBOT, I had treated for lyme but not for babesia.) Now, when I'm treating for babs, I still get the small bumps but they are not as bad as before. I don't know whether it's an allergic response to meds or yeast or what it is....No LLMD can ever give me an answer....
Hang in there!!!
