I have a friend with lyme disease who thinks she might have babs as well. She keeps testing negative for babs and her LLMD is stumped. If she tries the babs meds and herxes does that mean she has it? She's going to try Mepron, zith, and art. Do all lyme patients herx on babs meds anyway? Thanks for any insight...

Hey bugg...

I can't remember anyone NOT herxing on it... but then I haven't read every post.

I have heard of some folks having very mild herxes... barely noticable with the other junk going on... so they might have missed it.

I also think it depends on the severity and length of time you've had babs. I've never met anyone with "I-just-got-it" babs... so it is hard to say.

I would think if your friend has a herx.. she'll probably note the worsening of her symptoms.. and that could be a good indicator Babs was part of the problem.

Sorry I don't have a "for sure" answer... but sometimes there aren't any of those available. Not from my tiny brain anyhow.

One thought is that mepron is a cyst buster.

I always thought this combo hit my lyme as well.

This kind of surprises me. I've read that there are many different strains of babs and only a few are tested for so it's not too much of a surprise that her tests would be negative even though she has babs.

Many of us test negative, are clinically diagnosed and treated and feel better.

I have a healthy friend who does not have Lyme who traveled last summer in Equador in the rain-forests. She said that tourists there were prescribed daily Malarone as a preventive against mosquito bites/malaria. Fellow travelers did not report feeling sick from the Malarone but did refer to it as "the bad dream drug."

Interesting, eh? ....for what it's worth...

Best to all,

Thanks for your terrific comments. To clarify, she doesn't have "classic babs" symptoms but her LLMD is concerned because she is not getting better. That's why I asked if she would herx on the babs meds even if she doesn't have babs...Thanks again for your smart comments...

Hi Bugg

Here is something she can try --

Drink 3 litters of Tonic Water in One day
and see if she Herxes -

Tonic Water has a small amount of Quinine in it
and she will likely Herx if she has babs-

Tonic Water made me herx Bigtime --

Its worth a try - it cheap and easy to get-

Hope this helps--Jay--
