Hi all.

On my 6th day of mepron/biaxin combo.

First couple of days noticed some numbness in face, but it passed quickly.

Today, out of no where, I have this choking sensation.

Like I can't get a swallow. It happened this am.

Then passed. Then it happened while I was eating lunch.

Bad news. I was by myself. Thank God I know swallowing strategies and how

To HM on myself. [Eek!]

Now my head is floating. My body temp is 96.7 and I feel kind of numb

From my chest up. I can feel it if I touch it...

Just feels heavy and difficult to move diaphragm and such.

I also have the normal increase in air hunger.

Never had the other stuff.

Just want to check with you all to make sure this is all

Part of that dreaded babesia herx.

Thanks for any comments or advice.

Hugs,

Geneal

I haven't started treatment for Babs, but I have similar symptoms to the ones you describe.

Sometimes I have a choking sensation, but I haven't actually been choking on anything. Or sometimes when I drink or eat, it feels like something is stuck in my throat. It's an awful feeling.

My chest often feels tight. It circles around to my back and it makes it VERY difficult to breathe. The doctors tell me me this is connective tissue inflammation, but I'm skeptical. Sometimes my body feels like it doesn't want to breathe. I have to force myself to do it.

I always feel like my head is floating. Physically I'm here, but mentally I'm somewhere else, like it's a dream.

I also have horrible sinus pressure and pain in my cheeks. Random headaches, hot flashes, and chills.

I believe this all to be from Babs, whether it's during a herx or not.

Thanks for sharing with me.

I vaguely recall the choking sensation and swallowing issues

From over a year ago.....but I was sooooo sick.

Whatever it is (not listed as possible side effects of either med),

I sure hope it is killing those nasty bugs dead!

Hugs,

Geneal

JohnnyB,

I am not sure. Just find that this symptom which I haven't

Had in over one year decides to make an appearance on my 5-6th day of mepron.

That is just a little too coincidental for me.

I figured if it was Lyme, then I should be at least having difficulties

Once a month or for the last 5 months on doxy/flagyl...

Unless the biaxin is hitting something else.

This disease and co-infections sometimes makes me crazy trying to figure out

Which symptom (for me) goes with each disease. [shake]

I still have the sensation today...but not like yesterday.

I am pretty sure I saw this symptom listed as babesia....

But don't quote me. [Big Grin]

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi Geneal

During Babs treatment symptoms will worsen
new symptoms will show up threw time --

This is completely Normal and to be Expected-

Babs Herxes are the worst -
so be expecting it too -

Took 4 months before I had my first Real babs
herx -It is no fun --OucH -

Make Sure to take the mepron with FATTY Food-
Makes a huge difference in effectiveness -

Drink lots of warn tea --

You Will get Better--Jay--

Dear Jay,

I was hoping to hear from you [Smile] ......I know you have

Lots of experience with this bad bug.

I hope you are feeling better.

I've done malarone (4 x a day) twice for three months each.

LLMD Rx'd mepron this time. For 4-6 months!

Yeah!

I am still trying to talk him into adding art....but he is very cautious

About potential neuro toxic effects.

Thanks so much.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi Geneal,

That weird swallowing sensation is my least favorite next to migraines. I felt like I didn't know what to do with my tongue and as if there was a large lump near my trachea that felt like a blockage.

I don't know if it is Babs that makes that throat sensation, but I can tell you that anxiety compounds whatever it is to feel worse. Even by itself, anxiety can give me a different tightened throat feeling too.

I used to take a swig of liquid Benedryl when it would happen and then try to suck on a cough drop. At the time, I was on Rocephin and wondering if it was an allergic reaction. [also got the throat thing when drinking Pau D'Arco tea.] Cough drop just convinced me that I was capable of swallowing.

I think the Benedryl made me dopey enough to calm down. Invariabley the sensation would disappear until its next uninvited appearance.

Around that time I also had a lot of sleep apnea where I'd awaken gasping for air and unable to swallow. Wonder if there is a connection?!

Haven't done Mepron, because I'm such a light weight on Malarone. You are one brave mama!

Best,

wiserforit

Thanks Wiseforit [Smile] ,

Actually I am one desperate Momma'. Ready to get rid of babs for good.

I know what you mean about anxiety. At first I panicked yesterday.

I felt that food sitting in the back of my throat ready to drop in my trachea. [Eek!]

Then I realized I could do this.

Thank you God!

Hugs,

Geneal
