I know someone was recently talking about Dr.B's recommendations on excercise. I just re-read the section of the guidelines pertaining to exercise. I believe that the exercises I've been trying to use, when possible, seem to be "just what the doctor ordered".

I have found "Luigi" exercises to be of great benefit to me. They are not strenuous and are great for loosening up muscle tension and increasing blood flow to the muscles & joints.

You can also work up slowly & Luigi recommends that the technique with which the excercises are done is MUCH more important than the exertion. If they are done correctly the increased range of motion comes without forcing.

I grew up doing these exercises for dance and returned to them when I was really suffering serious muscular & joint pain. They helped me immensely.

The studio is in NYC, but they have books, CDs & videos, I believe. If you want to try it & can not go to classes in "the City", I would recommend starting out with the "technique", though the "style" class, for me, was more enjoyable.

I plan to pick up the CDs & videos to refresh my memory. I have forgotten a lot. [Roll Eyes] . I am not sure if the book would really be necessary with the video, but maybe it might be helpful with the CD.

I may get the book too (I haven't checked out any pricing yet) & then try to give more input as to what might make it easiest to follow, in my opinion.

Luigi had recovered from hemi-paralysis from an auto accident using his exercises. He was an amazing man, when I used to take his classes. I actually preferred HIS classes over the other instructors, though they were good also. (personal preference)

Here are links to the website, if you want to read about it:

"Luigi - The Man" (his story)

"The School" (class schedules etc.)

Please note: I have no affiliation with "Luigi", his studio or merchandise.

I merely studied his teaching for some 15-20 years & found it beneficial to fall back on what I could remember when I was suffering most.

When I re-read the guidelines, I figured others who can't get out to the gym or classes might benefit from this information.

PS - It's also nice to follow with a relaxing Epsom Salt bath, when you can. [Big Grin]
