Hi all--

Well, you can add me to the ever-growing list on this board of people with positive titers for viruses. I just received my results through MDL (I'm going to be retested through the lab Timaca and Dr. Montoya recommend). I'm positive for the following:

HHV-6: 11.74 with a positive being greater than .99;
EBV VCA IGG: 1.46 with anything greater than 1.09 being positive
EBV EBNA: IGG 3.19 and IGM 9.86 with anything great then 1.09 being positive
EBV-EA (negative on both)
CMV--positive at 2.82 with anything over then 1.09 being positive

I also tested slightly positive to mycoplasma pneumoniae--IGM at 1.53 with positive over 1.09...(this is a bacterial/viral organism)

So, obviously, I need to be retested for EBV and HHV-6..I've been all over the www.hhv6-foundation.org webpages.

Anyone have similar titers for EBV and HHV-6 and CMV?

If I continue to be positive for EBV and HHV-6, should I treat for those with valcyte before treating the mycoplasma p. (with zithromax, I'm assuming)???? On an awesome note, I'm no longer testing positive for ANY tick-borne infections, co-infections,or chlamydia P.....I fit the symptom list of an HHV-6 case perfectly.....I'm hoping by treating the HHV-6/EBV that I can put my remaining, nagging symptoms at bay....

Thanks for any comments/insights....

Hi Bugg~

Welcome to the viral club! [hi]

Yes, please get tested at Focus labs, as suggested on the HHV-6 website. (Patients forum has good info...I'm Timaca there too. [Wink] )

It does look like HHV-6 and EBV could be issues for you. Not so much the CMV. My CMV is in the 5-6 range, and the ID doctor following me isn't sure that is an issue...

Was that IgM that was positive for mycoplasma?? Not IgG?? If IgM...interesting...you may need to treat that one... If it's IgG I don't think that's high enough to warrant treatment...but I'm checking more on mycoplasmas myself....

Best,
Timaca

Thanks so much for your response, Timaca....Yes, you're correct, I was positive at 1.53 IGM for mycoplasma p. and negative IGG for mycoplasma p....Anything over 1.09 is positive and I had a 1.53 positive on the IGM for mycoplasma p....I'm definitely going to be retested for this along with all the viruses again through Focus. If all the bloodwork results are the same, should I treat for mycoplasma p. (a bacteria) before I treat for the viruses with something like Valcyte....The treatment for myco p. is long-term abx like zithromax....

Have you asked your LLMD this yet??

Thanks for all of the time you are spending helping so many with their viral issues questions....

I would treat them at the same time, but normally the viruses go back to dormant once you treat overwhelming bacterial infections.

I took valcyte for viral infections while taking doxy for Lyme.

I was also on malarone/biaxin combo while on valcyte.

You can treat for virus' and TBD's at the same time.

Hugs,

I agree because when you knock down borrelia it frees up the overwhelmed immune system to get back to busness.
Maybe when you get Bb knocked down do a couple of rounds of antivirals then back to antibiotics and anti fungals??

I'm being treated for lyme and EBV at the same time.

EBV has for 30 years shown to be active every time I've been tested, and I want it out of here now.

All the other usual viral suspects came back negative.

My LLMD wrote a Rx for valcyte and Walgreen's filled it.

Do make sure about the weekly blood work for the first six weeks,

Then bi-weekly for the next few weeks then monthly. [Eek!]

Hugs,

Geneal
