I just started taking septra this morning. I'm extremely itchy, but I don't have any of the big problems listed on the drug, like mouth break out, liver pain etc.

Do you think I should continue on the drug, or should I call my Dr?

I'd call your doc and make sure it's not an allergic rxn.

If this is a new symptom for you, I would call the Dr. just to be on the safe side....

Ditto, call your LLMD ... and also your pharmacist. Could be an allergic reaction.

Hives with Septra can cause death, just a caution to you.

I'm taking it, too. I'm doing OK. My pharmacy literature doesn't mention itching. Yet, that is frequently listed as an allergic reaction on other meds.

Hives can itch ... OK?

I take the stuff a few times a year...never had hives or itching.

I know the classic problems are sores or unusual bleeding or bruising.

I'd check it out too...as good as bactrim/Septra is it can be dangerous.
