YOU CRACK ME UP!!!! [Big Grin]

Actually a case of fast-acting Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup might do the trick! [Wink]

I downed a can of the broth & it's back up to 102/65, MUCH more comfortable. [Smile] (and it's tasty too! [lick] )

Thanks for reminding me, I need to pick up some more licorice. [Roll Eyes]

Now that I'm thinking about it, it may have been Jay that posted before on this. I'll have to go see if I can find out how low HE was. [hi]

Prior to being diagnosed with NMH and POTs,

While at an appt with my LLMD my blood pressure was 64/48.

The nurse checked it four times thinking it was an error.

I told them I hadn't been feeling well. [shake]

Can I have chocolate instead of chicken noodle soup?

(until someone comes along and beets me...thinking Jay will [Smile] )

Hugs,

Geneal

What kuddos to be temporarily the "winner" of something here! [Big Grin]

I know that I felt really bad driving my two children and myself for 3.5 hours there.

And back. Thank you God for being my co-pilot. [Smile]

Okay.....I'll settle for a coke icee instead. [Big Grin]

Until Jay comes and beets/beats me.

The florinef has kept my pressure 120/80 now.

So.....a little chocolate or a little coke icee?

I am so easily bribed and rewarded.

Hugs,

Geneal

Prior to any diagnosis my BP was 65/40 once at the gyn's office. I knew almost nothing about blood pressure but even I questioned that! The nurse said she would mention it to the doctor. The doctor said nothing about it.

I mentioned it to my regular doctor, he took it while I was lying down and it was fine. DUH!! This was 20+ years ago.

My mother (used to be a registered nurse) said that her systolic was in the 40's once. I marveled at how she managed to still be standing.

I know mine was usually quite low prior to Dx. I have no idea how low it may have gotten because usually the nurse would exclaim:

[Eek!] "THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!!!!" [Eek!]

Scare the heck out of me, then take it again. Of course, after the fright it would be much closer to "normal". "That's better!" they'd say as they wrote down the new numbers. [Roll Eyes] It happened MANY times & somehow I always jumped out of my skin. [shake]

Hey Geneal, How about if he beats you with beets to the rythum of some music? Oh sorry, I meant to the beat! LOL [Big Grin] [bonk]

Darn! I was so looking forward to the chocolates and icee.

So easily beaten.

Sorry that anybody has had that feeling. I fought waves of dizziness.

Felt sick and just out of it.

First started on cortef which helped some.

Later changed to florinef.

Hugs,

Geneal

Glad you posted this Ali. I just checked mine before reading this and it was 99/54 and I was starting to worry. I have been having palps alot lately and a little while ago I felt like my bp was low and sure enough it is.

It is usually around 120/80 and a few weeks ago it was almost back up to normal. I don't know what's going on... I hate this crap.

Happy happy joy joy

These posts are too funny! Glad to see some other people in the land of the "barely perfusing!"

I presented at my doc's office once with 60/40 seated, and he said it went down when I stood up, but he didn't want to tell me what it was. He said "I can't believe you are standing there talking to me, when strictly speaking you should be in shock!" Provides my excuse for my love of salty potato chips!

Thankfully,I'm not the winner. Mine hasn't been as low as 60/40... Yikes, that's scary.

The lowest mine has been 82/46. Usually now, since treatment, mine is in the 90/50's. Still low, though.

My question is, what have those of you with 60/40 BP's done!?

And does Lyme & Co give people low blood pressure? I'm amazed I don't have high blood pressure since it runs in my family. I'm only 24, yes, but I do have amazingly HIGH cholesterol. :-P

I beat you all on the bottom number...I'd gone to see the self-ascribed LLMD (NOT) a few days earlier, "Can one die from vomiting?"; "No," he patronized me, "the worst that can happen is that there is a little flap in your throat that you can tear, and you'll bleed a little bit."

I could barely get out of bed. NOT-LLMD convinced it was something else: Cancer, HIV (3 tests, all neg.). That whatever was happening was really NOT ALL THAT BAD.

Well, one night, I felt, "This is it"; called a taxi, and then an ambulance. Made arrangements for someone to come take care of the dog. Ambulance driver put the tiniest needle into my tiny wrist and vein IV. BP 80/? : bottom number too low to read...

What's with the palps? What meds are you on?

Docjen- That'sjustnotright! [Eek!] [Roll Eyes]
I can't imagine it even lower. YIKES!!!

I wonder if that's where mine was all those times the nurses freaked out. They never WOULD tell me what it was, just that it HAD to be wrong. [Roll Eyes]

I too am a great lover of the salty foods! I wonder when(if) I finally get "all better", will I have to quit eating so much salt? [Frown] I KNOW!!!! I'll just alternate between salt & chocolate!!!

Hey Geneal-
Is there too much talk of chocolate in this thread? Are we going to have to start one of these in "off-topic"? [Big Grin] LOL

TuTu- sorry bout Jason [Frown] [group hug]

I don't even like to remember these times... but I have been zoomed to the duck motel by ambulance several times when I've just dropped... out of the blue.. on the floor.

Of course I was horribly sick with Lyme and possibly co-infections and trying to function whenever I had an ounce of energy... and had been refusded treatment by the ducks who insisted I was "cured"...

And the ducks had all given me a clean bill of health and said nothing was wrong with me at the time.

Once my BP was 40. Yes, 40 over nothing. I was out of it... couldn't see, couldn't move but I could hear the EMT's while in the ambulance... and I could hear the 2 guys who found me first and called 911.

It is PRETTY scary when someone finds you down for the count and you can hear them as they stand over you saying...

"hmmmm?? I took that CPR stuff once but I don't remember much of it."

If I could have, I'd have gotten up and kicked them so hard it would have made their heads spin.

[lol]

That is especially disturbing if you were a CPR instructor who taught other CPR instructors (like I was at the time) and you are so out of it you can't open your eyes, can't move your hands or legs.... and can't even speak to tell them how to do it.

One other time I collapsed in the hospital elevator when I went there to visit someone who had been admitted. I can't remember the BP at the time but also very low.

The other time I was in an office to pay an insurance payment and suddenly dropped out on the floor.

Oh, and one more time I was at home alone.. felt weird... called 911 and my phone went dead... and then I dropped out. Had it not been for a friend monitoring the scanner and recognising something that made them think of me... and then contacting 911 to tell them where I was.. I am quite sure I wouldn't have made it.

All of these times were connected to the heart involvement I had with Lyme. The good news was.. the "episodes" only lasted about 6 weeks then went away just like they had come.

Note- When I was able to get treated... these episodes didn't occur.

Mine was 79/39 at one point and probably lower at times that I didn't check it. That was before I was diagnosed with anything. When I told my duck how low it was he asked me why I felt the need to check my BP anyway.

The reason was that my father-in-law was an EMT and said a lot of my symptoms sounded like they could be caused by low BP so we bought a cuff and sure enough. So why did I feel the need? B/c stupid duck wasn't doing ANYTHING so I had to.

After that he finally did send me to a cardiologist for a Tilt Table Test and sure enough I had "POTS" syndrome. I did Florinef for a couple of months but didn't feel significantly better so I weaned myself off and my BP stayed pretty good. It tends to run about 104/70 now. Before I crashed it was always about 90/50.

Good Times!!! [woohoo]

OK Tincup,

I WOULD say that you take the prize, BUT I do believe that there may be someone who could beat you. Unfortunately, we all have to get together for a seance to speak to them. [Razz]

I can't even imagine how horrifying that must have been for you. [Eek!] I'm so sorry you had to go through that! [group hug]

I'm glad that you posted about CPR. That's one of those things that periodically bugs the living spit out of me. I used to know it all cold, and I often realize that I DON'T REMEMBER THE COUNTS!!!!

I've looked it up a few times & promptly forget. If memory serves me, they changed the rules from when I had learned. I think it used to be 1/5? & 2/10?, what's for single?? what's for double???? [dizzy]

I remember thinking at some point, if I could just remember the single I could tough it out, if need be.

You'll have to give me the run-down. (just in case I should ever need to save you, I wouldn't want you talking about ME later. (LOL))

check for pulse
check for breathing
pinch & tilt
blow
???????
?????
???

BTW- I'm really glad they saved you!!! [kiss]

Sheeesh!!! RESTING PULSE 150!!!!!! That's freakishly HIGH, isn't it???!!!

I think his nerves got the better of him, I would think that someone of some industry importance would be able to see that too. [Roll Eyes]

You'll have to let us know if we should keep an eye out for him in the near future. [Wink]

Ok, I can't beat out 40 over ?

But when I was in high school I had a sleigh riding accident (hit a tree) resulting in multiple hairline fractures of the skull.

Every day for several months after that I had to go to the nurse at school and get checked out, including blood pressure, and everyday it was 60 over 40.

I felt fine, other than no sensation in half of my face and in my right knee. (the parts that hit the tree).

Throughout my 20's I was steadily in the 80 over 60 range, and slowly but surely over the years it has creeped up so that sometimes it will peek over 100 (I'm in my 40's now).

The only time that my blood pressure has been normal was when I was pregnant AND stressed out over work.

The doctor thought I was loco when I was worried about a bp of 130 over 80 when 4 months pregnant. I figured that since my normal when not pregnant (at that time) was 90 over 70, this consitituted a significant jump.

(I had been told the same week that I was going to be laid off due to a corporate restructuring, so I was legitimately stressed.)

He just thought it was great that it was in the normal range, and why would I worry about being laid off while pregnant, there's plenty of jobs out there, and no one can refuse to hire you because you're visably pregnant...

That was the last time I saw him!!!!

So do I get some chocolate for having sustained lifelong freakishly low blood pressure?

ha.

kp.

Lymemommy,

WEREN'T YOU PAYING ATTENTION?!!!! Chocolate lowers your BP!!!! You can only have it if you can get your BP up first! [tsk] LOL

You weren't the little girl on that Mystery ER episode that kept getting bacterial menegitis, were you?

The poor child had a hairline skull fracture that didn't heal & the bacteria kept sneaking through.

Thank goodness her parents were persistent with the doctors who didn't want to believe that she could have had bacterial menegitis a THIRD time.

If not for her parent's insistence that the doctors test, she would likely have died. [Frown] [shake]

That's another problem for a pregnant Lymie. I had BP 120s/70s and all the signs of pre-eclampsia. For the "average" person it was not high, but for me IT SURE WAS!!!! [Eek!]

I was unaware that I had been "Lymed" at the time. I found out, at a later time, that cocoa lowers your BP. Every day, during my later pregnancy (when my ankles looked like balloons and I was having palpitations [Eek!] ), I had the most INSANE cravings for Hot Cocoa & chocolate. I believe that it was likely my indulgence of those cravings that saved me. [Roll Eyes]

Did you have any signs of pre-eclampsia when your BP was that high?

[confused]

AliG,

No signs of pre-eclampsia with that preganancy, i really think it was the work situation that drove it up that high.

i was the director of a large residential program, and with the corporate restructuring, they had a hiring freeze, so some of our sites were at half staff or less.

i was scared to death that something horrible was going to happen at one of the sites due to the understaffing (like someone would die)and that I would be held responsible, and on top of it I was told that I was going to be laid off at some unforeseen date.

As to why my bp is always low, maybe it is my chocolate addiction. As far as I know it isn't lyme, as I am a lyme mommy, as in my son is sick, not me, at least not as far as I know.

Oddly enough, when my bp gets to the 'normal' range, that's when I feel the worst. Low is good, normal bad. guess I'm just wired differently.
