I do a professional colonics weekly with an R.N.

I have a hard time detoxing and will admit that I don't like these sessions, but we do what we have to do to try to get better.

As far as being so tired and weak that you don't think your system can handle it....I really do understand but playing devil's advocate, how much of that may be due to the toxins running wild in your system if you aren't getting them out.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Cathy

I wouldn't bother with colonics unless you are very constipated. I'd use other means of detox because colonics disrupt your bowel flora, and you want to keep that in balance as best as possible. I'd do saunas and epsom baths before I'd resort to colonics. Also, make sure you drink large quantities of water every day, it's the best detox.

I have to disagree. The right kind of colonics can reach pockets that have formed in your colon, that can stay full for years or forever. Once these pockets fill up, everything you are passing, goes right by them.

These pockets hold the nastiest of nasty toxins, being reabsorbed all the time.

You can rebuild you bowel flora and if you are always keeping it up you are fine.

I always feel better and more energized after a good colonic and I would not go just anywhere for one. I will try to find out if there is a particular name or method used where I get mine.

I actually just got home from having one and I can tell you that I am constantly amazed while watching what passes through the glass tube in the machine. Stuff I am glad to be rid of. This is not just stool coming out when one of those pockets releases.

Sorry for the detail.

What I meant was, I wouldn't use them regularly, like more than once a week. I think that's too much! I've done them all before, yes yes, pockets of toxins indeed. You can also take some Miralax and do the same thing and flush it all out, just make sure you take the probiotics.

even professional athletes get them - and I think they know why - they get paid for being fit!

I had many of them during my ill years, and I was chastised on this board for talking about it years ago. Do not let anybody keep you from getting some. Drinking too much water is just as bad as too many colonics. Everything in moderation seems to work best.

Take care.

I can't even do a sauna,I feel like I'm going to pass out and get all shaky. Massages make me herx for acouple of days.

But I have been constipaed(HU!)

Wow my brain is not working abfter being on my last set of abx.

Flagy 1000 and Suprax. I came so close to killing myself. K
I know it was the abx combo.

Thanks,

Atheana

Atheana,

Although I do have a Far Infrared Sauna and use to always take epsom salt baths, I have a port and while it is accessed, these two things are not allowed.

I personally have been constipated most of my life, (pre lyme) but it started to just feel normal for me.

But some of the medications made it much worse and when you are killing off crap in your body, you DO need to get it out.

I am NOT saying that colonics is right for everyone and it was my first LLMD that suggested I do it. I didn't do it without my doctor telling me how important it was in my particular case.

I also wanted to comment on what my doctor said regarding the washing out or disrupting your bowel flora since I had heard this here and it was a concern of mine.

I was told that it actually would behave opposite of what one may think. By cleaning out the mess in there, you are INCREASING the good intestinal flora.

Good bacteria can only breed in a clean environment and if we are constipated due to the meds or whatever, it isn't a stable enviroment for the good flora to multiply. Also, take your probiotics faithfully through this process to help yourself along.

Also, in a clean environment, the nutrients you may take can be absorbed better, so I guess there are two sides to this. My LLMD was extremely pro colonics in a case like mine.

Hope this helps.

Cathy
