Hi there,
I'm having a difficult time sorting out what abx cover what. So far I've been on...
2 wks. amoxicillan 3 wks. Bactrim 6 wks. Doxycycline 8 wks. Ceftin 3 wks. Zithromax-so far (am currently on this)
I was just wondering what co-infections I've hit so far with any of these. I realize none of it was probably enough to completely get rid of anything but am hoping I've at least hit Bartonella, ehrlichiosis, and babesia. I know doxy and zithro work on myco. Thanks!
I should mention that I was on amoxicillan and bactrim for something else before getting dx. I was also put on Doxy for Mycoplasma before officially getting dx with Lyme.

....some of us have found that bactrim has an effect on babs similar to mepron...after all mepron was developed to treat PCP pneumonia in patients who couldn't tolerate the sulfa in bactrim.
it works especially well if you add artemesinin.

Hi charlie,
So do you think 3 wks. of bactrim was enough to put a serious dent in the Babs especially since now I'm on Zith which I think has some effect on it?

I'm sorry to say this laura, but you probably haven't killed that many bacteria yet. If you are still feeling symptomatic and ill, the fights not over. Feeling better, doesn't mean they all died either.
Like Tutu said keep going after them.

Laura, I think three months is more like it than three weeks...It took me a year and a half to get everything in manageable form.
I'm no doctor BTW
