I have been having tingling and burning sensations for about 7 years now.
I was tested through the ELISA, negative, or course. From what I understand they test you and then if its positive they do the western blot?
Is that correct? Can a doctor just order a western blot instead of the normal test?
Thank you. Jen

You are being 'ducked'!!!
ONLY ducks,,,,ie terrible stupid docs,,,order an elissa to start with!!
It is SUCH a worthless test.
Find, then RUN,not walk to a very GOOD LLMD who WILL send out to Igenex a western blot,,or say he doesnt need to,cause its sx based anyway!!
AND they TREAT you beginning right then!!With long enough, strong enough doses to get rid of it at best, knock it down at worst.
IF they say ,,,"oh 2 weeks of 100 or 200mg doxy will fix you up like new,,,it will be ALL gone,,," run dont walk outta there!! Go back 2 paragraphs and start over!!
BUT dont take my word on it,,,spend a week reading alot of similiar posts here and when all read up,,,decide for yourself.
OR ask MORE questions on the way!!remaining--just don--

Yes, you want an IgeneX Western Blot and a doctor who knows how to read it properly and how to diagnose clinically. That is an LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor).
It is also possible to have a co-infection without borrelia according to some LLMD's so that is another important reason that you want to see an LLMD. If you do have lyme, most regular doctors (especially infectious disease doctors) don't know how to treat it properly or how to figure out what other infections you have.
Go to the seeking doctor section of this website and ask for a list of doctors in your area. Also, check out your local lyme group to see if you can get recommendations. You can also go to the database and put your zip code in and get nearby LLMD's. You will need to register first. http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/referral/LogIn.php?setcookie=yes
You want someone who is a member of ILADS in my opinion although there may be some good ones who aren't, that is your best chance of getting someone who is up on the latest treatments etc.. www.ilads.org
