I have been having issues lately, i posted several threads about it in the past few days, here are the reults
I have been having severe neck pain, have a herniated disc, but neuro said it shouldn't be causing this much pain. ended up with vestibular neuritis, bad headache/pressure, and other neuro signs
LLMD said this is not the lyme, its something else. he said with the tx I am on for the lyme (rifampin, doxy, biaxin) covers everything bacterial
went to my reg dr wed, and he gave me steroids for the vest neur. felt better on the first day of the steroid but then got worse, last night had fever, sweats chills, pain down my spine, headache and pressure comes back sometimes
went back to the dr today and he said its probably viral meningitis, or maybe even just a virus, but no worse than a reg infection. there is no tx for it, it is self limiting, and shoudl go away on its own
he said its not bacterial or fungal or I would have a higher fever, my fever is lowgrade 99-100.5 and I would be a lot sicker
I feel better, fever is down, but this head pressure gets very bad. if it gets bad enough I couldl go to the hospital and they will do a lumbar puncture but I do not want to risk that unless I think my life, hearing, vision or something is in jeopardy

ro, we lyme patients know STEROIDS ARE A NO-NO! so i'm thinking most of that is REACTION to the steroids for you.
do NOT let them do a lumbar puncture on you; i believe it's similary to spinal taps ... not good for lymies.
but up for day shift; i'm tired and ready for bed; can't think straight. so do NOT take my opinion as medical advise...

Do you have a neurologist? My sons have had several LPs to reduce their intracranial pressure.
Their LPs are always scheduled and done by a neurosurgeon. I would think it would be better to do it that way instead of an emergency LP.
Good luck!

There are some natural therapies (not drugs) thaat IME work very well for viruses. One I have used a lot is called VIVI from Systemic Formulas of Ogden UT.
Their products have been around since the 1960s (most of them) and generally do not have interactions with drugs. They should be taken a few hours away from drugs. Their formulas are primarily herbals and unfortunately most medical docs do not know much about them so will say to stay away from them, intead of saying "I do not know, but I will find out."
About six years ago my kids told me that if there were only two things that were natural that they could have for the rest of their lives, VIVI was one of those things.

Did you LLMD approve your use of the steroids? If not, I'd get off of
them ASAP. They really do a number on your immune system.

the LLMD said steroids are not ideal, but in this case if it helped reduce the swelling and prevent further damage, its probably less risky than a lumbar puncture
he also said since I am on so much abx I should be ok, and its only six days taper of prednisone(6,5,4,3,2,1)
I seem to be getting better instead of worse. the headache/pressure episodes are fewer and farther between. my fever is down to 99.5, only goes high at night, but not as high as the first night.
so hopefully this will pass. I am just worried about tuesday when I am completely off the steroid whats going to happen
i just read about that poor 4 year old girl, and my heart breaks for her
