I have been on doxy for 2 weeks now. I had switched from zithromax and mepron to levaquin & malarone about 6 weeks ago. Plaquinil for months now. Idea was to use doxy to go after lyme now that babesia and bartonella should now be on the run after 6 months treatment.

I am getting a LOT of joint and connective tissue pain, more than at any point in the last year. My Neck (c6?) and Back (T8) have revived disc degeneration fears, left knee feels like patellar tendonitis, left achilles inflammed, bunions (big toe joint) suddenly inflammed, and I've got a definite rotator cuff tear now (mri'd) with I need to schedule surgery for (another can of worms I hope not)

Anyway, the question, whish I can't seem to answer from llmd:

Are these symptoms likely herx reactions from lyme itself, activated by doxy, or is the disease progressing in an attempt to cripple me?

This has become close to disabling, I haven't been able to run for 2 weeks now due to knee/achilles/back and I can feel all the BS building up in me. I hadn't had any musckuloskeletal problems anything like this in 30 years on running prior.

Ugh

Are you still on the Levaquin and Malarone in addition to the doxy? I would be.

I treated babs for over a year, then tried to wean off babs meds .... within six weeks I was back on them.

After six weeks of Levaquin I was starting to feel better, but required 12 weeks of it to get rid of the bart.

Doxy is a tough drug .... it very well could be stirring up the Lyme. That happened to me with bart when I started Levaquin, I got worse before I started getting better.

Hang in there, this isn't easy.

You are presently taking Levaquin?

It's possible that your tendonitis symptoms are a side effect of the Levaquin.

I keep reading here that Levaquin can cause tendons to rupture.

Yes I'm on the levaquin, malarone, & plaquinil along with the newly rotated-in doxy.

I wish I knew if the tendon pain were due to the levaquin or stirred up lyme sympt from the doxy.

The doxy is already driving me nuts with the sun sensitivity. I usaully tan just fine but not now. I live in a very sunny climate and live to be outside, run, ski, hike....burn.

I had been pushing my knees xc and telemark skiing but I'm leery of the pain conicidence. I missed skiing with my kids this morning and am hating it...along with the rest of my life right now. The spine/shoulder and other pain is just icing on my cake.

Thanks for the support. I just wish I knew.
