does anyone know if vasculitis is caused by lyme or co's?

my LLMD keeps saying "not everything is lyme" and he wants me to get other things checked out, even tho i am being treated for lyme

i have hepatitis C too, but my symptoms never went with that, and the hepC specialists for years have been telling me i must have some other infection

but i was diagnosed by a rheumatologist with cryoglobulinemia, which is a complication of hepC that was about 10 years ago, and the treatment for it was to treat the hepC, and i did that, and it resolved

now i am having symptoms of vasculitis, or it possibly could be mild arterial occlusive disease, but my cryoglobulinemia tests were still very low as of last year.

i am wondering if lyme could cause any vasculitic problems since i know it causes hypercoagulation

Do you have a vasculitis rash? My son had gotten vasculitis - started as hives then turned to all these purple bruise like dots that covered his whole body. At the time they didn't know what caused this, but years later when I was diagnosis with lyme we found that I passed it on to him.

i dont have pupura, thats why it took so long to get a diagnosis

the neuro-opthamologist 4 years ago said i have microvascular tia's causing my neuro symptoms, but didn't know the exact cause

at the time i didnt know cryoglobulinemia was a form of vasculitis. but my drs have been testing me, and last year it was slightly pos.

i am just wondering if it could be the lyme, since my hepC tests look good.

i found a few search hits but supposedly its rare. but i have heard a lot about lyme and hypergoaguability, so it makes sense that if it went on it will eventually cause vasculitis

What is vasculitis?

Vasculitis is a general term for a group of uncommon diseases that feature inflammation of the blood vessels. The blood vessels of the body are referred to as the vascular system. The blood vessels are composed of arteries that pass oxygen-rich blood to the tissues of the body and veins that return oxygen-depleted blood from the tissues to the lungs for oxygen. Vasculitis is characterized by inflammation in and damage to the walls of various blood vessels.

Each of the vasculitis diseases (also, as a group, referred to as vasculitides) is defined by certain patterns of distribution of blood vessel involvement, particular organ involvement, and laboratory test abnormalities.

The word vasculitis is derived from the Latin "vasculum", vessel + "- itis", inflammation. Another term for vasculitis is angiitis. When arteries are the inflamed blood vessels, the condition is also referred to as arteritis. When the veins are inflamed, it is referred to as venulitis.

See the article for more information.

It is very common for lyme to cause vasculitis. I have cerebral vasculitis as a result of Lyme.

Googel Lyme vasculitis and you will get lots of hits. Also, Sparkles post above is very informative.

A differential diagnosis on my brain MRI's is vasculitis due to numerous lesions. When blood flow is restricted, as it is from lyme/coinfections (among other things), it can cause vasculitis.

Feelfit,

What are the symptoms of cerebral vasculitis? I think I may have that with a few other things?

Are they
1. Temporal headaches worse when one lies down or upon waking in the morning?
2. Eye redness?
3. Positve P ANCA.

You don't also have Horners syndrome by any chance?
I think I need a scorecard with some of the symptoms I have.

How did they detect you cerebral vasculitis? Was it LLMD, GP or RHEUMY?

I have an MRA, Aand MRI of the brain, base of skull and neck coming up along with CT of the chest. Oh of course if insurance company approves which I am getting tired of, mother may I with the insurnace company.

They detected my Cerebral Vasculitis on the MRA.

My symptoms are headaches at the base of skull rt. side. head pressure, and it feels like I have a hat on most of the time.

I also get lightheaded. None of my other tests showed this: MRI or SPECT. Actually, metabolically, my briain is working fine...good equal blood flow, no hyperintensities etc.

My blood vessels just looked really goofed up.
i am scheduled for a repeat MRI/MRA on April 1
