Having read the Burrascanos papers you get a pretty good feeling for Rosephin. I wanted to try, but my LMMD says it is not good for adults. It only works when the bacteria is dividing, and that does not happen all that often for adults he claims, and it also promotes cysts. Thus, he mostly uses rosephin for children and in people who are not cronically infected.
He really favours IV Biaxin in combo with IV Flagy for late stage lyme.
But then I read here that some of you seem to really benefit from Rocephin.....
On the other hand I just read Rosnans book and he states ABSOLUTELY NO rosephin for late stage lyme.
Then I was thinking about maybe you get temporary relief from Rocephin and feeling good because you throw the spirochetes inteo cysts, and when you only harbour cysts, you are symptom free. And then when you stop the Rocephin, hell will come back?!
Only some thoughts! I just want to get better but I cant understand the rocephin controversy......
What is your experience?

I have no idea! Is this done a lot in Sweden / Europe?
I know this: 6 months of IV Rocephen (women take ursodiol to help prevent gallstones) immediately followed by ten months of LA Bicillin shots in the rear 3 times a week has done wonders for me, plus orals.
The price has gone down for Rocephen. It's now gone generic! At the top of the Medical forum, flagged in red, is a thread about generic Rocephen by "California Lyme."
I had Bell's palsy, severe right side muscle pain, right side arthritis and constant (24 hours a day) severe head pain plus other neuro stuff.
Since treatment all signs and symptoms have improved a lot. I figure I am 85% better overall and 90% better by fatigue.
I am being treated for bart now--I'm in herx--so those % figures don't include bart treatment. I start babs treatment next month.

I decided not to use any antibiotics at all. I tried them for about 8 months with no positive results. I know some people don't agree with this.
There are alot of good protocols using herbal medicine. I guess I'll know if it works for me in time. I've never seen any definitive results from antibiotics for late stage Lyme. It seems that most people have to go back & use them again since the Lyme never fully went away. If I'm going to be taking something long term - I'd rather use something less invasive than abx.
Just my view...

I had late stage lyme was totally bed bound (7 years mis diagnosed) and got so unwell I had zero adrenal output to the point where I had no response to a ACTH stim test for adrenal function, I was admitted to hospital for over 7 weeks where I was literally dying. After 5 months of rocephin my adrenals started to work and I responded to a ACTH Test. I am under a ILADS director and he says he see's this happen all of the time and it is a life saver. To stop it going turning motiles in to cysts it is given with tinidazole or Flagyl which are cyst busters.
Many Many people especially Neuro or late stage have got there lives back with Rocephin or at least got to a stage where they are out of danger and then often are able to go on to Bicillin Shots or orals.
Personally I am now treating co-infections and toxins and then I am going back on Rocephin for Lyme probably then adding other lyme meds, I would not hesitate and neither would my LLMD.
