Is this normal for some of you, mine has been low for a long time now but it is not low enough to where it can't fight an infection....

My WBC is low as well, I don't know about everyone else though.
I have been sent to specialist for autoimmune disorders and all of it is negative.
I dont quite understand what it means at this point.
Sorry I cant be of much help as to the why? but you are not alone.

Hey. Mine is extremely low as well.
How do you know your's isn't low enough to fight infection?
Mine is continously around 2.4 - 3.1 when it should be around 4.0 - 10.0. It's normally around 2.4 or 2.5. It's only once been as high as 3.1. This is SO low that Lap Corp has wrote it in red and put ALERT next to it.
Mine has been this low since high school (I'm 24 years old now). Not sure exactly why this is or what it means.... but it definitely has me worried quite often. My LLMD and other doctors I've been to seem not to think anything of it, but I still worry about it.
And I'm pretty sure I don't have Ehrlichia which is the co-infection that causes low white blood cell counts (I was on Doxy for quite a long time, and I know that Doxy treats Ehrlichia anyway). My LLMD also told me that Babesia can lower the white blood cell count as well.
Not sure what to think of it all. Sometimes when I have my bad days I start worrying about it and maybe it meaning cancer or leukemia or one of those scary things because I have no clue what's causing the white blood cell count to be so low.
VERY worrisome.
My LLMD put me on Bactrim to treat Babs (haven't tested positive for it yet though) to see if it would help white blood cell count go up at all...

Ive had lyme(untreated) for 3 1/2 years and got a cbc about twice a year since. I have a copy of all my results and I noticed that since the lyme my wbc count dropped a few points every time.
On average, it looked like this Before 2004 - 8.0 Contracted lyme: 2004 - 4.5 2005 - 3.7 2006 - 3.3 (started treating) 2007 - 3.9

For those with low white blood cell counts, have you been tested for ehrlichiosis aka anaplasmosis? As an aside, ehrlichiosis is a common co-infection for those living in the Southeastern U.S. My LLMD told me that chronic low WBC, particularly those that are quite low, can be a sign of chronic, untreated ehrlichiosis. Remember, there are differnt strains of ehrlichiosis....Don't know if this applies to any of you but I at least wanted to mention it on this thread...

I think mine is a 4.2 not 100% sure...... doc said it should be atleast 4.5 or something like that

I too have low WBC counts and have tested positive for Lyme and Bartonella; both clinically as well as through FRY Labs. No other co-infection showed positive.
I did, however, test positive for HHV-6 and am certain that I have parasitic involvement as I have passed worms.
I just completed a 1-month course of Humaworm. Not much result from it neither symptomatically nor seeing any worms pass through the stool.
Like you 'disturbedme' I have had the low WBC counts since High School and am now 24 years old. My counts were low even prior to becoming symptomatic... well, at least my "crash" point. The counts have gotten lower and lower over time starting with 4.0 and now with my latest blood draw I was at 2.5. Incidentally, the way I feel seems to coincide with these numbers.
Let me know if anyone has questions/comments for me as I would be eager to hear and respond!
