Hi all, I have been on doxy 100mg 2 x a day for 2 months now. For the last 3-4 weeks I have been getting a very dry throat on and off which feels like I have a lump or plegm stuck in my throat. When this happens it seems to set me off into a panic attack because I start to concentrate on my swallowing. Also on and off hoarse voice. Could this be from doxy ? thanks Teresa

Could be that it's causing acid reflux. A big indicator for me is hoarseness. That's when I know that something is too acidic for me.

Are you eating food when you take the doxy?

Are you making sure not to lie down for at least an hour after taking it?

My daughter has not been on the doxy as long as you, however, I read that you should not eat one hour before or two hours after taking the doxy because otherwise the medicine doesn't absorb into your bloodstream as well, meaning you are not getting the full effect of the medicine.

We found that she MUST eat one hour before taking it, or she throws up within 30 minutes of taking the doxy. And then if she has bad nausea I will let her eat a saltine cracker to see if that helps but we try to avoid any foods to get the full effect of the medicine.

She won't have a stomach left if she continues like that for a long time.

Just my experience.

WOW, I could never not eat with the doxy. Even if I do not eat enough I get sick. I remember just trying a few crackers I went out to feed my animals, well I was so sick I was holding onto the trees wretching. Most of been some site for the neighbors LOL. Teresa
