Anyone have swollen lymph nodes appear for the first time after being on abx treatment for quite some time?

And how swollen is a "swollen" lymph node?

I have several spots, that have just appeared after being on treatment for TBDs for 3 years. Started out with a massive migraine, and then the swelling began.

Inside the cheek and just under the ear are not brand new - they come and go. Right now they are hard, and a bit larger than a pea.

However, last night the base of my neck began swelling - just above the collarbone, where it is normally concave. Each side is about the size of a small lemon, sliced in half lengthwise. Feels huge. And sore. But not hard, more soft and swollen.

Also the base of the skull is sore to the touch, and my armpits look puffy, but not horrible.

In the world of swollen lymph nodes, is this the norm?

Will be seeing my doc tomorrow, just looking for some info or maybe some company in the land of enlarged lymph nodes...

Thanks for any input,
cactus

Hi cactus,

I had really bad swollen lymph nodes in my arm pitts right after I was bit in 2001. They were so bad I could not lay on my side. It felt like I had rocks there and was very painful. I still get some swollen lymph nodes on and off but not as bad.

I also get muscle spasms in my cheek and neck area and have to do trigger point therapy on myself.

Heat and massage seemed to help, but the main thing that has helped me is treating all these nasty tick borne infections.

I hope you get some relief and feel better. Let us know what your doctor says.

Right now the right side of my face and behind my ear is really swollen.

I am terribly sore under my arms and I often have pain in the groin area.

This just gets worse and worse doesn't it?

Thanks, Beverly and randibear. At least we're not alone in this.

I hope this is one part of the lyme experience that passes quickly for all of us. Ugh. Not fun.

Will keep you posted,
Cactus

I started having slightly swollen lymph glands in my neck when I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome back in the 80's.

I've had them since then...

I guess it's good to try things that will drain the lymph like lymphatic massage, rebounding, dry brushing, etc.
