Hello everyone- I have been having a tough few

weeks trying to rid my body of adderall. Before

my diagnosis of lyme disease I was treated with

40 mg of Adderall XR for ADD and anxiety

issues. Since lyme has taken over my body- I

haven't done so well on the adderall. First- I

became highly addictive to the rush of energy

the first four hours of the medication. After

those four hours I would literally fall in

exhaustion. Second- I used to think my lexapro

was causing my fogginess in my brain, but I now

fully believe it is the adderall. Since weening

myself off of it, I'm not having foggy days

anymore. It has been such a terrible experience

getting off this drug.. I have been sleeping

about 14 hours a day now. My therapist doesn't

understand lyme disease and refuses to even put

that in my diagnosis as well. I am currently

seeking another one. I was just looking for

some opinions on adderall (ESPECIALLY THE

EXTENDED RELEASE TABS). I just think the

adderall has been poisoning me in a way for many

months. My experience could be very different

than others- so please don't listen to my

judgement on adderall. Thanks so much.

You might want to read this warning on adderall, it can have serious side effects.

Adderal is highly, highly addictive, in the sense that it is very tough to stop. The medicos claim that "addiction" only means that you "crave" the drug, so in spite of it being so very, very hard to quit, they claim it is not "addictive."

My best advice is to go slow in getting off it, and any other psychiatric drug.

There is a book, "Your Drug May Be Your Problem," that I'm told gives detailed directions for quitting these drugs.

In addition, I would recommend B VITAMINS--the drugs rob the body of B Vitamins. If you can find one with SMALL doses of Niacin (not Niacinamide), it will help the body to clear out the drug residuals. Niacin can cause major detox reactions, so go very slow with that one!!!

For a more natural thing than pills, you can try Brewer's Yeast, which has a good mix of B Vitamins and protein also. Tastes pretty bad until you get used to it. As with any supplement, go slow! My husband gets a bad allergic reaction to Brewer's Yeast (genetic) yet has no problems with B Complex tablets, so I know that some people can have problems with it.

Best,

Cass A
