Hi,

I posted about tinnitus from zith (it is a pulsing that comes and goes for me).

The past 2 days my ears feel clogged (I haven't noticed the pulsing- they just feel clogged).

I put a call into my LLMD today and am waiting for a call back- i am on mepron/zith now. Can zith cause clogged ears too?

yes, I had the same thing last year, my first year of treatment. My LLMD thinks it's a bartonella symptom. It's pretty much gone now.

This has been one of my strange symptoms for years. I think for me it is related to TMJ, which is on the same side as my clogged ear.

Can't really offer any advice but I have the same problem.

I believe mine may be due to Mycoplasma. It seemed to get better when I went on Doxy but then I switched to Ceftin and it started getting worse again after awhile and Ceftin doesn't treat Myco.

I just started Zithromax which does treat Myco so we'll see.

I have has sinus/allergy problems since my symptoms started. From what I understand, when on abx you may start to experience symptoms of lyme that you may not have experienced before.

I never had pain in my knees and hips but since starting on abx when I have bad days my knees and hips as well as my feet.

For me the feeling was that my ears needed to "pop". Also, when I would lay down to sleep at night I would sinus drainage.

I found great relief for my ear/sinus problems with claratin-D and flonase.

Just wanted to add the idea that it might be a herxing thing and not a drug side-effect thing.

My ears did the same thing when I started Zith. I'm no longer on the zith but still having clogged ear and hearing problems.

My ears feel full too. I am on zith and malarone for Babesia, but looking at my charts, ear pressure started BEFORE adding Zith.

Who knows? Do you have head pressure too?

i notice that at night my ears seem to get unclogged, but as soon as i get up and walk around, they clog right back up and stay that way all day.

they are also sore/irritated and i have the sound of the ocean in one ear that comes and goes and ringing in the other ear.

i can't tell if it is from the meds or some sort of sinus problem now that is causing all of these ear symptoms.

Hi!

I've had persisting tinnitus as a Lyme symptom for some years. While on Doxy, I got that full feeling in one ear that just didn't go away. It seemed like a hearing loss to me, so I stopped the Doxy. That was in December 2007.

I'm doing an herbal treatment for Babs now, along with Lumbrokinase, and the ear fullness/hearing loss has finally gone away.

I would not take ear symptoms lightly.

Best,

Cass A

My neighbor had the same sensation from zith.

Once she stopped it, the fullness went away.

I can't take zith due to ear ringing.

Hugs,

Geneal

I did switch to biaxin, but the ear fullness/pulsatile tinnitus has not yet gone away.

I had a hearing test a few weeks ago, and my hearing is fine.
