Hi everyone,

I have a stinky question for you. (my apologizies for the potty content of this post, but inquiring mommy needs to know..)

My son has episodes of very stinky BM's. I know that this is a part of the lyme experience.

But recently his stinkies have taken on a distinctly amonia like stench. The fumes actually make my eyes water.

Is this just the die off of spiroketes, or is it a symptom of something else going on? I can only imagine what this is doing to his insides, as it's pretty rough on his bottom.

thanks for your feedback!!

Uh oh....better check into c.difficile .. If he has this you will need to call the dr ASAP.

Is he taking probiotics and watching his diet?? [I know, kids want to eat all the sweets they can!]

Thank you for responding Lymetoo.

He was tested for c dif a couple of months ago, but that doesn't mean it isn't an issue now, right?

GI issues have been a persistant problem for him for almost 2 years now. For the past 10 months or so, his tummy hurts most of the time, sometimes he can feel it when he has to go, most of the time he can't, and now we have super stinkies.

In regards to the probiotics, yes, he takes them every day, the chewable kind. He doesn't eat a lot of sugar, but probably too many carbs.

Due to the tenderness of his tummy, his diet ultra bland. He seems to be unable to tolerate (and is unwilling to eat) much of anything that has any taste at all.

(I call it the white diet, as it primarily consists of chicken nuggets, rice, pasta, cereal and water.) He loves fruit, but it goes right thru him, his favorite veggies give him gas.

Will call the doc, and test for c dif again.

Thanks,
KP

Update,

I called the doc, she says c dif doesn't smell like ammonia, and if the smell persists, to take him to a GI doc.

ugh. like there's a lot of lyme literate GI pedi docs out there.

guess I need to post in seeking a doc section.

thanks for your feedback.
