Hey Tracy... Well the report said I have hypocortisolism suggesting an under active adrenal cortex. Primary adrenal insufficiency, prolonged stress, post traumatic stress disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome and insomnia have been associated. Additional testing should be considered... blah blah

Hi trish4,

A lot of threads have dealt with adrenal insufficiency.

Here's one:

This site has all kinds of great info on it relating to adrenal and endocrine issues....I am hypothyroid and hypoaldosterone, so I have to take cortisol to keep it from getting to low from the florinef I have to take for the aldosterone.....

HI Trish,

Low cortisol is very common in those with chronic Lyme. The infection gets in your brain and negatively affects the hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal feedback.

Many with this symptom take a low dose of cortef because it's essential to function. This low dose is not supposed to be immunosupressive as steroid treatment would be.

You'll find a discussion about this as a complication of chronic Lyme in Dr. B's treatment guidelines.

my most recent results, which were an improvement over previous testing were:

7-9 AM 0.38
11-1 PM 0.48
3-5 PM 0.07
10P-12M 0.10

these are all low normal. previously they were almost all way below normal range.

i took hydrocortisone (cortef) to successfully raise mine.

yours appears to be within normal range, with the exception of the last one.

I take Adreno Distress Guard by Perque. You can buy Perque products at www.wellnessworks.net

It's not cheap, but my doctor has seen really good results with it.

I've been taking Cortef now for about 4 weeks and it might be premature to say this but the energy I have not compared to before, is phenomenal. I am doing stuff all day. Rarely needing a nap. Cleaning, moving around, walking - going all day long - and not feeling sick/payback as a result.

I hope I don't jinx myself by saying that.

I'm on 5mg once a day.
