I need some specific info about regeneration of my legs and trunk. First I want to understand how it happens. My body is mostly atrophied, except my arms. They were, but now my OT said they were "buff." Made me laugh.
Anyway, I am curious about how it happens. A few months ago I couldn't move in bed. Now I can turn over - as of last night.
I am not sure what I need to know, maybe I need to hear that it did happen to some and their experience. Thanks.

Hi Aliyalex,
Are you able to get out of your home?
Because a physical therapist would get you going. I did that and then something I never thought I'd do--I did machine weightlifting!
It's not what it sounds like at all. We get to sit down! We don't go at it like HE-MAN stuff. No heart pounding or heavy breathing or sweating.
No aerobics--that would tire us.
When we're done we go home and rest.
I have had MUCH success with the exercise program in the following: Go to www.ilads.org, to the left menu, click "Treatment Guidelines" and that takes you to Dr. Burrascano's 33 pages of tips for 2005.
In there you'll also find a referral for physical therapy that you can put in front of your GP or PCP, for their signature for insurance.
