Those of you who use Olive Leaf Extract - would you recommend any particular brand?

Is there a minimum necessary percentage of Oleuropein required for effectiveness?

Thanks in advance

Elaine

Can you tell me about Olive Leaf Extract? What is it used for? How does it work etc.

I use Prohealth's brand, because I trust the company to have good quality and fair prices.

The owner has CFS/ME and 20 years back, that was the only place I could find some of the stuff I was looking for. He researches, and if the latest product that seems promising isn't easily found, he'll put it in his catalog.

He's also a major fundraiser for CFS/ME, but that may not directly benefit lyme patients at this point. Who knows about future findings?

I like ProHeath's olive leaf, too. Also, Nature's Way brand, I just bought some from Solaray. I took two tablets and had a bad herx. I found it most effective if taken at the onset of a cold. Keep taking one every other hour. Drink hot green tea. You'll get very tired for a bit, but you may throw off that cold. Keep taking it over the next few days even if you feel better.

I live these brands because they have a high % of olespeurin (sp?)

I'm at work so not sure which brand, but bought it at a health food store.

Metallic, I use it to kill yeast and boost the immune system. This stuff is a GodSend

Unless its a Rx brand, theres no regulations; I would just get a varity, and also different forms, perhaps a cap with extract, and one with WHOLE HERB, I dont trust humans to KNOW all the active ingredients. So I ALWAYS make sure to get either whole herb, or BOTH. Some claims that the only ones good (with other herbs) is a tinure, like with alcohol in it, idk how true that is, no one knows, but if theres oil in it, the alcohol thing may hold water.

Nature's Way or NSI.

Nature's Way is cheaper.

Olive Leaf Extract supposedly hits Lyme and Candida in smaller quantities (2-4 a day) and hits Bart in large quantities (15 a day).

Best,

The Solgar brand is our favorite--

An Olive Tree lives for up to two centuries and in
that time repels many types of invaders. For us,
it is an antioxidant, and helps to reduce the bad
cholesterol.
It is very cleansing to the gall bladder. Goodbye
stones.
There is evidence now that it is antiviral and is
known to combat hepatitis and herpes in their
many forms.
It is definitely antibacterial- broad spectrum but
does not seem to affect your friendly bacteria in
the gut.
It is excellent in combating candida and fungal
infections.
We feel like it should be taken if you are taking
antibiotics.
