I just saw my doctor about a tick bite and knee pain. She said it didn't seem like the kind of knee pain associated w/ lyme disease. She said lyme knee pain is usually hot and swollen. Mine isn't like that. They look and feel normal, but they do ache a little, sometimes have a small shooting pain, and tingle. Does this sound like lyme?

I had the exact same thing. It would have this stabing pain through my knee. When I walked I could extend it out but not back.
I had x-rays but no arthritis. They said they were fine. Yet I continued to have problems. To this day. I get swelling in the legs from the knee down.
It hurts to stand for too long. I have bruising behind my left knee now. It can definately be related. In my opinion anyway. It is Lyme Arthritis. Which doesn't neccessarily cause red and swollen joints like true arthritis.

I agree with kitkat. My knees have not been hot or swollen, except when I needed surgery for a torn meniscus.
Some days I can't straighten them out or bend them when I first awaken. Sometimes the pain goes away with use, others it remains all day, even with pain meds.

That was one of the first symptoms I had. My left knee was sore, and I started to have a very minor limp. Showed up within weeks.

Forgot to add. Still to this day my knees look normal, so yes, I think it could be Lyme that you have.

swelling of joints is Not necessary -
I have both Lyme and babs and when my joints were painful there was No swelling or heat involved- -Jay-

My husband has terrible problems with his knee. Hurts almost all the time. Some days his limp is awful.
However, it's not swollen or red, and the MRI only showed a small effusion (sign of arthritis).
He tested positive for Lyme by PCR, which finds the actual bacteria. But his synovial fluid was negative (almost too small a sample to test).

little debbie... its possible its lyme related as joint pain is a symptom. But it could be a lot of other things as well.
Id suggest you try posting your knee questions (symptoms, etc.) out on the below knee forum. Its a great site, and I used it heavily for acl, meniscus, sprain issues/questions...

I have never had knee swelling or joint swelling.
But I do have knee stiffness that becomes so stiff at times that upon standing, they lock up and I have to stand still for a while before taking any steps. And then right after that when I walk, I look like a 90-year-old because I'm hobbling along. AND I'M ONLY 24!!!!!
My arms do this as well as my fingers. My fingers are ALWAYS stiff and get stuck in unusual positions (claw-like) for a few seconds (even while doing daily activities like opening a door or trying to open a bottle of water - which I can never open myself). The stiffness in my knees and elbows, however, come and go. One day they can be extremely stiff and the next day not at all.
I also get sharp stabbing sensations through my knees as well as fingers/hands that come and go as well. This doesn't happen as often as the stiffness though.
