my son is 7.
igenex results: 23-25, 30, 39, 58, 66 (IGM)
starter abx in october. Saw improvement then big herx in March. took off abx to attack yeast

Got impacted stool Iirst week of april.

currently on grape fruit seed extract, magnesium, threelac, other probiotic, b complex, and multi vitamin.

Today had frequent urination and burning, urgency, and raw penis.
Also complaining of pains in abdomen, similar to when he had impacted stool.

Saw dr, test results in office say no infection but blood.

have to repeat urine sample with first urine of morning tomorrow.

she thinks bladder infection that may be related to constipation...

so now he is crying and miserable, again, and i don't know what to do for him....

could any of these supplements cause a bladder infection? Anyone have any ideas?

Bladder problems are common with lyme. There's a nerve that runs through the bladder the keets like to reside on. My son had it and tests never showed a thing.

Our LLMD gave him two meds and it cleared up in a day or two. Can't think of the one med but it turns your urine an odd color. I believe the other was levaquin.

NP it was probably pyridium that changed the urine orange. You can also by Azo over the counter to help with the burning, but since he is so young check with your dr.

My last UTI I got after being constipated, it was ecoli. I had nitrites in the urine and lucked out that my uro lets the lab check for low colony counts too.

Did he just start any of those supplements?

in the mean time have him stay away from spicy foods, and overly acidic foods like orange juice, teas with caffeine. All those will just irritate the bladder more.

I feel so bad for your son, I will keep him in my thoughts. You might want to ask your dr tommorrow for some abx usually used for UTI's and something to help with the burning.

Also, maybe something he is on is causing dyeoff?

Its yeast increase his acidophilis and yogurt no sugar added.

About 6 to eight acidophils capsuls a day.

Take 4 at a time first day at least 3 times a day until burning starts going away. He may have some soreness for quite a while I did I went hunting one day and got up to pee I had forgoten my probiotics that day and when I peed it was like peeing lightning did it sting it even peeled some skin on my foreskin a bit graphic but dont underestimate yeast and lack of probitics.

Hey dmbfan,

I would agree with Treepatrol.

Sounds like yeast problem because of antiobiotics.

Lyme can cause havock with frequent urination and discomfort, but from the irritation and rawness you mention, I'd say it's the yeast.

Also, I struggle with all these homeopathic supplements for kids after recently delving into that world with myself and 5 year old. I do believe in them and should my son need antibiotics again I will most def do probiobiotics and consider bee pollen.

But, I fell into a few holes thinking the homeo stuff was choice for him. My son took Mugwort, something he probably shouldn't have, I was too stupid to no better. The person who put him on it, was more knowledgeable but I question how many kids she's helped. She also had suggested magnesium...but vast amounts of it. I started to wake up a little bit.

Also gave him and myself other vit's that I later found had silica powder used in their manufacturing. Another screwed up thing.

I guess I've learned so many things can go wrong that less is sometimes better, especially when something isn't right and you have to start figuring out what.

Perhaps you're more on the ball than me about all the extras for good health. I've just been burned a few times and realise anything you give really has to be questioned.

Take the probiotics....critical though. Something real good for the immune system is also what I will search for in the future.

2 roads,

i've been burnt before by the too much syndrome as well.

my son hasn't been on abx since march and has been on a low sugar and low carb diet since then with probiotics.

could it be yeast without a discharge or irritation?

also, he seems to be more constipated. could it be caused by constipation?

i'm actually increasing his magnesium today to alleviate some of the constipation. we'll see... the urination seems to be less frequent today.

can yeast infections cause increases in urination and urgency?
thanks to everyone, once again!

Yes, yeast infections can cause increase in urination. Ive had that before.

Did the dr think it was yeast?

Also, I get constipated when I take too many probiotics.

Just a confirmation maybe missed the first time....

You say he DOES have blood in the urine??

If yes, maybe he has a kidney stone. It can affect bowels too, I'm told.

It maybe a combo of this and yeast infection.

Could also be bladder infection, too.

I would say keep it all in the back of mind until ruled out.

How are his other Lyme symptoms off antibiotics?

Sorry I missed this blood if that is the case.

ps-Do check with doctor about over the counter Azo or pyridium. It would be interesting to see if that resolves the pain. It would be a strong arguement for Bladder infection.

Sounds like he needs relief...worth a try before tomorrow. Not quite sure what doc thinks will change between now and then.

If infection, you're back on antibiotics.

The initial lab results came back as no infection.

Could a urine test tell if there is yeast there?

His teacher called today and is very concerned about him. says obviously he is urinating frequently, moody, spacey, off task. I'm guessing its a yeast die off. She kept saying that it "doesn't look physiolocial"

Of course now my mind is racing... when has he been out of my supervision, could something have happended to him... I really don't think so, but you panic.

So guys, i'm guessing I just go strong with probiotics?????
