On just 5mg of Cortef per day, is it likely to cause weight gain?

I don't weigh myself often and the last time was about a month ago, shortly after I started ortef 5mg a day.

I have been feeling bloated and heavy and weighed myself now and have gained 7lbs, despite having been more energetic the last 3-4 weeks on the cortef and being much more active and doing pilates regularly. Makes no sense to me.

Any advice?

I haven't called my LLMD yet because it may be 'nothing' and I don't want to make a big deal out of it, yet, although I could not afford to gain even another lb.

Yep I am on it (20 mg a day) for about a month now. I have gained 5 - 7 lbs. I needed to gain weight though, so am very pleased. But typically it can make you gain weight. Anything, to feel better huh?

On 20mg a day I could definitely understand it, but on 5mg once a day I thought it was unlikely that it would cause weight gain.

Anyone else on low dose gain weight?

I don't think it made me gain weight... although I DID gain some after going on it.

But I think the weight gain may come from craving things we shouldn't eat or the cortef causing yeast to proliferate.

I've been on 10mg for about 5 yrs, but I've recently lost weight due to a change in diet.

Do you notice any changes in your appetite that could account for the weight gain?

Hi Lymetoo,

I haven't been eating differently, and in the last week definitely been eating less than normal. Have not craved anything in particular (not chocolate, carbs, etc).

Maybe it slows the metabolism? I would believe it did that to me.
