hello,

so i am nearing 4 months in my treatment.
currently i am on

doxy/bactrim/zithromax(2X week)

things are going slow, if they are going at all.

what is strange is that my anxiety, which had spiked
after being on these abx for awhile, is now combined with
pretty heavy fatigue, which i have never reallly had before.

my remaining symptoms overall are:

anxiety/fatigue (almost every night)

sleep schedule is off (6 am -3 pm)

neuropathy (better, but still there)

small purple bumps on legs and arms

strange mouth symptoms that i am trying to get to
a dentist to figure out (especially since i havent
really come across many with mouth symptoms?)

a had sharp chest pain last week that i hadn't
had since last summer

mental problems (mainly focus, spelling, confusion, sometimes
i just stare off into space unable to decide what i should do next
for hours on end, but i am struggling through grad school so this is def not good)

i'm guessing that i am not done treating bart, and i think i need
to change up my antibiotics to get to the next level.
i have tried cumanda and samento...they seem to give me a herx but then i don't notice any improvement?
(to be fair i was only on them consistently for about a month, should i try longer?)

thanks

kevin

hi kevin; i have NO personal bart or zith experience.

4 months is very short time! how long have you had the symptoms? you've got to learn patience as lyme is going to thru you in every imaginable direction with NO TIME FRAME!

please explain what is going on with your mouth! we have several dentists and dental techs as members; perhaps they might have some idea. i'd start a NEW POST with all your dental info but show all meds/OTC supplements/herbs you;'re taking too ok!

wow, you have your hands full with grad school too! you might be wise to see about treating only and no school so you don't waste $$ money; just my opinion.

are you on anxiety med? most of us are and it helps tremendously; can't remember mine right now as i have a long list of meds....uffda!

best wishes kevin. [group hug] [kiss]

thanks for the reply!

i have had symptoms since 2004, progressively worsening.
my first symptoms were mostly neurological (although i've always had many, various symptoms).

i started to get mood swings a year after infection so i went on cymbalta for awhile and then
stopped it by choice. i'm thinking i should go back on it because it did help, but on the other hand, i want to be able to tell if i am better...and the cymbalta seemed to mask some of my neuropathy...

my dental symptoms are really hard for me to understand.
it seems like i have lesions on the insides of my cheeks, that look exactly like my skin but are shinier and smoother.
there are two bumps in the same position on each cheek.
many doctors have told me i have been biting my cheeks.

also, there is a line at the bottom of both cheeks from front
to back that ends at the corners of my lips and looks like a blood vessel just underneath my skin that i dont remember being there before.

finally i have many bumps and lumps beneath both lips that i was told were cysts by an ear, nose, and throat doctor.

i do think that i will need to take a break from grad school, but it's going to be tough, because they are paying me and providing me with health insurance...so i don't know....i'm not sure what i would do!

whew....

Think you are going to have to pull out the big guns to get Bart.

Would suggest either Cipro or Levaquin or might need to go with Rifampin plus something else.

Bart is one tough bug.

Eagerly waiting the new book from Dr S -- supposed to published within a month. Hoping to see some new ideas for Bart treatment.

I had the same two bumps on the side of my cheeks and I noticed that I had been biting my cheeks by night. They are gone now - I stopped being so tense and I'm not biting anymore.

I also have the two lines. Feels like thin scars. Isn't that normal? I thougt everybody has that? I don't know, I noticed them only when I felt the bumps from my biting.

Oh, and I too have Bartonella.
